I am three weeks post-op today. The top of my incision, where the fishing line comes out, and the area right under it is red and sore. Could that be my body's reaction to the internal stitches or could I have it infected? I don't have any pus-looking areas? TIA Denise Baker 9-29-03

Hey Denise, I have the exact same problem. I was told not to worry about it, that it would be fine, but I was kinda wondering the same thing...

Good to hear from you. How are things going? Have you ventured out with food yet? I talked to Rahbin today and she said she was going to meet us at Dr Baker's office to check on us. I too will also be glad to get rid of the line. The top area of my incision looks bad to me. Anyway, good to hear from you. Denise

I have been to Dixie Cafe several times and had the mac and cheese and black-eyed peas. Today I ventured out and ate the grilled catfi**** was really tasty. Except it had a little too much of some kind of grease on it. I ate about 1/3 of it and a bite of mac and cheese was finished. I brought the rest of it home to eat for dinner and lunch tomorrow. The fish settled good in my stomach but the grease didn't. I wish I knew how they prepared the fish. But it was better than the chicken strips or chicken fried steak I would have normally eaten. I may try toast with peanut butter for breakfast tomorrow. We'll wait and see. Denise

Hey Ladies, Mine did the exact same thing. I talked to Dr Baker about it and he said that it perfectly normal for your bodies have that reaction to a foreign object and it will get better when the stitch is removed. I know it hurts. The only thing I can recommend for a little relief is put a band aid or tape some gauze over it to prevent your bra from rubbing. Or if you can get away with it, go braless. Love to all, Karin

Thanks Karin. I have tried the band aid and it doesn't help, just makes it worse. I am going to have to try the gauze because I can't get away without. I am ready for it to come out! Denise
