My wife couldnt stay with me bcause of her illnesses, she stayed on fri til I was in Sicu, The reason I stayed in Icu so long was because their was no ins co telling them to get me out,and they also wanted to make sure everything was ok, Everything was Great, every one was Great, I never said ,"god, what did I do?" Hi Steve, my name is Brenda I had my surgery 1-14-02, I did have complications due to being so morbidly obese, I weighed 369lbs standing only 4'11", I had to be trached due to not having any air wave passages, I was in ICU for the first 8days and then on floor for two more days before going home with the trach still in!!! Now this had nothing to do with the surgery only me being so large........on the 30th of Jan the trach came out, then two weeks later I got a staff infection in my drain sites and was in the hospital for 10 more days only to go home having home health come out daily and pack my incision, this went on till about June, again this had nothing to do with the surgery so please do no let this scare you, three weeks ago tomorrow (MONDAY) I had to be mediflighted by helicopter to Tulsa for emergency hernia repair, my bowels were intangled in the hernia and were trying to die off, so while my surgeon was in there he tightened my tummy by 6 inches, I now weigh 173lbs which is a total loss of 196lbs......I feel good, I look better, I love life, I can live life to the fullest now, and I would go through everything again just to have the life I do now. Good luck and God Bless!!!

Hi Steve- I am so glad you are home and that things went well for you! I had looked on this site several times for a post from you and was pleased to see you back on line. Keep truckin ahead...walk...drink...walk. I know things will only get better from here. I am 2 months post op and down 33 lbs. My weight has not fallen off as with some folks but I have lost 25% of what I needed to loose, I have not thrown up even 1 time and my labs are normal. What else could a girl ask for? I will look for up dates from you. Good luck. D'Etta

Congratulations on getting your surgery behind you. I had Dr. Galvin for my surgery and I have done great. You will, too! Take it easy, follow his orders and you will be amazed at the difference in you after a few weeks. I had a really easy time of it, went home the day after surgery, never required pain medication. I am truly blessed. I had surgery in August 2002. Hang in there. If you have questions, I will be glad and try to answer them for you. Nita
