Hello all, I am 6 weeks post-op and I am not losing the weight like I thought I would. I went to my doctor 3 weeks post-op and I lost 23 lbs. When I went back two weeks later I had only lost 2 more pounds. I went back yesterday and I gained a pound! I have been doing everything the doctor has told me. I was taken off my HBP pills and my diuretic 3 weeks ago. I am retaining some water, but I am not sure if that is why I am not losing. I have been doing everything my doctor says to do. For the first 6 weeks I was on liquids and I just drank water and a protien drink everyday, about 500 cal. I just started eating pureed foods this week and I am taking in between 800-900 cal. per day. My dietician is pleased with what I am eating and sees no problem with it. I started walking a mile last week and now I am up to 2.5 miles, I walk 5 days a week. You would think that I would be losing it. I do see a difference in my clothes and my body looks different. But I just don't understand that scale. If there is anyone who has had this experience, would you please help me? I am so frustrated and I am trying to stay positive through this. Thanks so much!

Hello Tandra, I'm Debbie. I'm only 3 weeks and 4 day's post-op. I've lost about 31 Lbs. I'm not loosing as much as I wanted. I'm starting on my 4th week so I've started puree meats. And everything tast like crap to me. I have to make myself eat. Have you tried measuring. Since you started walking that far you mite be gaining muscle, Which muscle weighs more than fat. Hugs and good luck on the rest of your journey

Hi Tandra, hun please do not get discouraged you are doing the right things, everyone looses at different stages, your body has just went through alot of shock and it could be that it is trying to adjust.......also remember that you may be loosing inches right now instead of lbs and that is just as important........I had several plateaus where I didn't loose not even 1 lb and got so discouraged but the weight loss does start back up and it goes fast......my surgery was 1-14-02 my starting weight was 369lbs standing only 4'11'', I now weigh 173lbs which is a total loss of 196lbs.......good luck and God Bless!!!

Tandra- Hi I had my wls on 8/12 and Dr Galvin was my surgeon, as I think he was yours. I too have thought my wt loss was slow. I have lost 33 lbs as of today starting with a bmi of 44. I was told by a few people that I was considered a "lite weight" (THAT is a laugh!) & with a bmi below 45 that might make my wt lose slower. I am choosing to focus on the positive...I feel good, have never vomited and labs are normal. WE need to focus on those things rather than a number on the scales! This board is great because we can support each other in our time of need. D'Etta
