Dr. Roller Seminar
Sure! Ask me anything. I am an open book.
I went to Dr. Roller's first ever Siminar when he first opened his clinic in Springdale. I had a HUGE battle with my insurance which resulted in me waiting untill this past January to actually have the surgery. I am now 6 weeks post-op and down 30 pounds since surgery (81 total with my 6-month supervised diet)
His office has since moved to Fayetteville, and every person in that office has been wonderfull to work with.

I would like to hear what made you choose him as your surgeron?
Would you go through surgery again with Dr. Roller?
Did he come recommended to you?
Did Dr. Rollers office help fight the insurance for you?
What kind of surgery did you have?
Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions for me!

I choose Dr. Roller because I wanted my surgeon to be within a close distance if I needed him post-op for emergency. Honestly, I'm not sure I woulda had the surgery if he didnt have an office in NWA.
No, I never received a recomendation for him, but I never heard a complaint against him either. At the time I started my WL journey he happened to open an office here!
The lady that files the insurance (Beth) is a God-Send! She fought for 2 years for me to get approval. She is relentless in getting approvals.
I had Laproscopic RNY. When I first went to the siminar I thought I would go with the Lapband, but after my own personal research and talking with Dr. Roller we both decided that RNY was the best choice for me.
I would absolutely have Dr. Roller do my surgery again!! I have had zero post-op complications, and minimal pain. I had my surgery at the Physicians Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville and LOVED that place. The nurse to patient ratio is very low, and everybody is very friendly and helpfull.

Wonderful! thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I have been to seminar in Oklahoma and I agree I want my surgeron to be close "if" problems occur.
I am looking forward to the seminar Saturday morning. I am leaning towards the sleeve surgery, but look foward to speaking with a surgeon, about what would be right for me.
You have encouraged me even more! I can't wait for Saturday!!!
Thanks again,
Gena

Gena,
Good luck with your decision. I will tell you that the Sleeve Surgery is not covered by insurance. I do know a friend who self payed for the sleeve with Dr. Rollers office and she has had a wonderfull outcome as well.
If you ever have anymore questions, or just need somebody to talk to feel free to email me!

Hey Gena!
I'm a Dr. Roller patient. I also had the sleeve.
He is a great doctor! He is a teaching doctor for the sleeve procedure. I felt very confident with him and will use him again if I need my gallbladder or something out.
Like the other person said, Beth is a rockstar when it comes to insurance, if she can't do it, no one can.
I know a few others that have the sleeve and a few more that are going to get the sleeve.
I don't know if I could have done WLS, if it hadn't been for this option.
I'm about 7 weeks out and down 45 lbs. I feel great.
Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions!

I am looking at the sleeve surgery myself. I'm ahead of the game, I have no gallbladder or Apendix! LOL I will be attending the April 1 seminar (as long as my family stays healthy!)
I am also open to what Dr. Roller has to say as well.
45 lb that's wonderful!! Is there any foods that you "just can't eat" anymore. I should say any foods you liked before surgery but not now?

Hey Gena!
I was really worried, because I was a bonafide food addict. If it tastes good, I ate a lot of it, if it sounded good, I was on my way to get it.
The week before surgery all the fast food restaurants were calling my name, I did some serious (unnecessary) food funeraling.
The sleeve has taken my cravings away, I don't "have" to have anything.
It really zapped my sweet tooth too. This has been a real blessing for me.
I've had a tiny bit of fast food and it tastes terrible, it's like I just taste the additives now. And sweet stuff is still really good, I don't need to be around it my any means, but I don't crave it or have to eat tons of it. My husband and son made cookies a while back and I ate one. I even felt a bit guilty for one, but before I would of had 15 and put another batch in the oven.
My aunt had RNY, so I don't know if this is a sleeve or RNY thing, but she became lactose intolerant and has a hard time with eggs.
I eat eggs all the time and actually have more dairy then I ever did before.
The only thing that is uncomfortable to me now is cold water. I use to drink water all the time, but now it kind of sits hard and it's like I can taste the minerals in it. I live off of hot tea and have some sugar free hot chocolate now and then.
I drank coke everyday before, I took one sip of it after and spewed it out, it tasted like diesel and the carbonation about took my socks off. Which was a good thing for me. :-)
The hardest part is getting through that two week liquid phase after surgery, well the week before isn't a blast either. But, it's do-able. Before, I though it was impossible.
Wishing you the best! This is so exciting!!!
