I am trying to find out information on which insurance companies in Arkansas cover wls.  Would anyone be willing to share which companies they KNOW cover the surgery in our state?  I am trying to find out for my daughter.  She has Health Advantage, which I think refuses to cover it at all.  :-(  Just wondering if anyone has a company that they loved?

It all depends on what the particular company you work for decides to do.  My company uses Health Advantage and they do cover wls.  If your company decides to exclude it to save money on the cost of the plan, that's why it's not covered.

I had Aetna when I had my surgery. Sybul is right, it's up to the employer, not the insurance company, what procedures they are willing to pay for.

Have you called Health Advantage yet?

My husband worked for Starbuck's at the time of my surgery and they covered it with no problem. You only have to work 20 hrs a week to qualify for their insurance. But.....it's been three years and they may have changed their policies.

It's not so much the insurance company as what POLICY the company she works for buys.

I had Health Advantage BCBS and they covered everything for my surgery except my upgrade to a private room.  (I paid $72 total for my entire surgery start to finish and that included the un-covered $50 private room upgrade charge back when BMC wasn't private room exclusive.)
