Has anyone here had a hysterectomy after their gastric bypass?  Just wondering if having the bypass will create more complications with the hysterectomy?  Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Hi there, so glad to see you're smiling face, but sorry to hear it looks like you're facing surgery. IMO, one shouldn't have any thing to do with the other, they're no way connected. You might want to protein load before and after, just to help yourself heal quicker, but that's all I can think of.

Hope you're doing welll other wise. It's nice to see you!

That's what I was thinking too Susan...they shouldn't have anything to do with each other.  I just want to cover all my bases.  I see my surgeon tomorrow and will discuss it with him then.  Loading up on protein is a good idea that I hadn't thought of, so thanks for that.

Otherwise, I'm doing well.  I took a course over the summer and I am now a licensed EMT working with a local ambulance service...I love it!  I've had a slight weight gain, about 8 lbs. but I know why.  I stopped exercising when I started having all these pains in my back and abdomen, so hopefully once I'm healed and completely recovered from this surgery I can get back to exercising again and drop those pounds.  I'm retaining water really bad also which doesn't help.  I haven't been on here in forever, I really need to update my profile...I'll have that chance while I'm laid up over the next few weeks!

Take care everyone!

Congrats to YOU!  Isn't it wonderful all of the things we can do now? I'd bet you'd be really great as an EMT, you're such a caring person.

I've gained 8 lbs too. There are folks out there that would say it's because we're 3 years out and it just happens. I had refused to believe it until it happened to me. I never exercised much, mostly because of the problems I had with my foot, but I'm sure that I can do quite a lot more now than I could even a year ago. Gary bought me a Wii for Christmas, so I think I'll get the Fit to go with it with some of the money I got from clients. Maybe it will inspire me???

Please keep in touch and let us know  what the surgeon says. I haven't had "those parts" for 25 years and I sure don't miss them a bit! You'll be fine, I'm sure.

Ditto to what Susan said about the protein.  Also add some Zinc and Vitamin C after surgery if you already aren't on them.  They will complete the package for healing faster.

I had a partial last November, my doctor knew how to do the new way, vaginal one incision and he actually said me having the bypass and losing all the weight made it easier on him.  Did it on a Thursday back to work on a Monday, not bad.

Best Wishes
