Good morning! Anybody have any really good New Year resolutions?

Hello everyone.  How are you all?  I hope everyone had a nice Christmas.  I can't remember the last time we had snow on Christmas day.  My husband and I played Taxi for people at work that day that couldn't get there because of the weather.  It was a little scary but we all made it in one piece.  We still have a lot of ice on the ground but the roads were clear yesterday.  I hear more snow may be on the agenda for today.  I'm still fighting the smoking addiction.  My hubby and I have set a new date for Jan. 1 to quit cold turkey this time.  No smoking aids, just going to quit and tough it out.  Also, I plan to start back to exercising.  I have used every excuse in the book not to do it, lol.  I'll never get those last few pounds I want to shed off if I don't.  What have you all been up to?  I have missed you all.  I have a hard time this time of year.  I think it's the lack of sunlight.  I fight depression this time of year with the short days.  I used to love the cold weather.  Now I have just been freezing, lol.  I guess it's because I no longer have all that extra insulation.  I sure don't miss it though, lol.  I'm off for another day of work.  This is crunch week where I have to tie up all the end of month loose ends and as always, I'm behind and busting my buns trying to get it all done on time.  Wish me luck.

Good luck Sybul, I know how crunch time can be.  This is an extremely hard time of year for me, has been since 2002 when my first husband died, then Mikes grandma in Dec 2003, my dad in Dec 2004 and a family member or 2 every year since then at various times.  Im thankful for the family I have left and the most wonderful splendid and awesome husband that I have now.
I guess my new years resolution is to be more positive, enjoy my life, get this 40 pounds back off and remember every day is a gift.  As I have read the posts this morning, there have been lots of struggles in our OH family this year, and I vow to lift up each one in prayer daily.  We all need the prayers and I KNOW I need the praying!!
I will work out more, eat healthier and toss all alcohol to the trash or slap it away if its offered!!  I CAN DO THIS!!!  And you can quit smoking, we are behind you!!
I vow to make 2010 the best year of my life, and be the person I need to be, no matter what.  I will not let anyone determine my mood for me, bring me down or tell me who I am or should be.  Its all about being positive this year, b/c WE WILL WIN IN 2010!!!

Hugs,

Morning, Sybul!

We had a great Christmas. Gary, Jeff, Tess and I went to Nashville to see our San Diego Chargers stomp the tar out of the Titans Christmas night. We had so much fun, but MAN was it cold!! Now it's back to reality....boo

I don't make resolutions anymore, they' leave too much opportunity to failure and dissapointment in myself. I do make goals though, and this year it is to: try to exercise more, get out and away from my computer, and maybe find a new house. How's that for a list?

The coldness all the time will get better, I promise!  Wendy and I were just talking about this yesterday. Last year there wern't enough clothes for me to put on, now I'm much better. The body image thing gets better too, but it all takes time.

Gotta get going and ready for work. Hope you have a nice day!

Susan

Sounds like a good list to me.  Just don't get so far away from your computer that your buddies here don't ever hear from you, lol.  We love you too much for that.  Sounds like ya'll had a really fun Christmas.  I'm feeling the urge for a short road trip to Houston/Baytown to see my sisters.  They always come up here so I figure it's my turn to go see them.  Maybe in a couple of months I can work it out with my schedule at work.  I am really homesick for them.  This is our first Christmas without Val's mom.  I miss the old bat.  She could be hell on wheels when she got going but she was like a mother to me the last years she was here.  I miss my old friend.

Morning Sybul,
I'm like Susan. I don't make resolutions either. They stress me out too much. I have enough stress. I'm just thankful for the roof over my head, food, and my precious family. Spending time with my family is my favorite thing to do these days. Hopefully next year will be a better year for us all. But right now, just taking one day at a time is the best thing for us to do. No one knows what tomorrow will bring.
I hope all of us OH'ers can still stick together and stay on track on this journey we have started. I don't think this journey ever ends. So we too just take it one day at a time, take care of what we can and let God take care of the rest.
Wishing everyone a great Tuesday!!!!

Ann

You're right.  Taking things one day at a time is the best we can do.  I too am grateful for my family, our home as humble as it may be, and for all the love that fills it.  I've been trying to be more positive about everything lately.  It was obvious that stressing out over things we cannot change doesn't make things any better, just more stressful.

Life and death are in the power of the tongue Proverbs 18:21 ...And Romans 4:17 says to call those things which ain't to be called is, so I will speak life into my life by choosing positive words. And I will have the faith to believe that I can call those positive things into existence in my life and speak life into the lives of others. God's word ... also says where two touch and agree so I am touching my screen and agreeing with you to stop smoking. When I look back and see where He has brought me from I positively must say Lord I thank you. Sorry the preacher in me just had to come out. I am expecting God to continue to show up and show out in my life and the lives of my friends and family in 2010.

Amen to that!  I am really glad to hear from you all.  I've missed hearing from everyone.  I'll take all the support I can get with the smoking thing.  They say the more times you try, the better your chances.  My odds ought to be getting pretty high up there by now., lol.

You can do it Sybul.

I had an interesting Tuesday. I got my Holter...Event Cardiac Monitor in the mail. I was having issues in trying to connect it so I took it to work with me and my friend Tammy helped me with it. So the guys saw 2 girls go into a single bathroom and saw us coming out laughing. It was funny her trying to help me put on the 2 leads and the pads and then the clip on the monitor the size of a pager.

This is day one of 30 days of heart monitoring. On January 15 I am going to be doing an ambulatory EEG for the weekend. Will the fun ever end? I am preop. I have dizzy spell issues and got to get to the bottom of that before going to see Dr. John Baker.

I appreciate all the prayers from everyone. I am learning so much from everyone.

Blessings....Brenda
