Thursday's meeting

I know I haven't been on much lately but a lot has been going on around here. I wish I could be there Thursday but unfortunately I can't. My husband has been sick. A week ago he had to have a blood transfusion. After testing we now know he has a mass in his colon and has colon cancer and will be having surgery on Monday. So our kids and some other family members coming in this weekend.
He had a colonoscopy five years ago and everything was fine.  But this colonoscopy wasn't. So what you don't know can hurt you. I have one every five years because my mother died of colon cancer. My husband has no one on his side of the family that has ever had cancer. How strange.
I hope you guys have a wonderful time at Thursday's meeting. Maybe I can make the January meeting.
Blessings to all!!!

OMG Ann, I had no idea!

I'm sorry you can't make it Thursday but I totally understand.

I will be thinking about you, your husband and family and hope that his recovery from his surgery is rapid and as trouble-free as possible.

I think I speak for all of us when I say we will miss you and be thinking of you & yours.

Oh Ann, I'm so very sorry. What a terrible time for this to happen, not that there's a GOOD time, but heck!

Please know we'll all be thinking about you tomorrow night, knowing you're where you should be, taking care of Charles.
Where will his surgery be? Who is doing it?

Please take care, and know you're in my thoughts and prayers!!!

Susan

No there is never a good time for this to happen but you deal with it one day at a time. And we are very optimistic right now. The liver/spleen test showed no indication that it has spread to those two areas, so we are very pleased with that.
He is having the surgery done here in Hot Springs at National Park Medical Center. His surgeon is a lady named Adrian Martin. We really liked her a lot. Another thing we are pleased about is that she will be doing the surgery laproscopically(sp?).  Who knew you could do that kind of surgery that way? We sure didn't. But we were very happy about it because it will cut down significantly on recovery time. He will be in the hospital for 5 to 7 days. ICU for the first couple days just as a precaution. My mom died of colon cancer, so I'm really praying that we caught this early. Charles had a colonoscopy five years ago and there was nothing at all there. So this has happened in just the last five years. So I'm hoping that is good news.
I may not be on here very much next week, but when I get the chance I will let you guys know what is going on and how he is doing and I am doing....lol. I'm not sure they have wireless internet at the hospital, so I may have to wait till I'm home at some point to let you guys know.

Anyway, thanks for the prayers and all. I do appreciate it very much. I always know I can come here and talk about stuff without the condescending crap you get from other people who just don't get it. Ya'll take care and luv you guys!!!!

Ann,
So sorry to hear this news.  I am praying that all goes well, and that you stay well and healthy thru all of this.  I have been sick so much this year, that I always tell the caretaker to be careful.  So many times they are forgotten.  Those of you who take care of us wear out as well.  Take care of you as you take care of Charles.
Hope that all is well, enjoy your time together w/family, even if its not in the cir****tances you want them to visit!!
Hugs and love and prayer going your way,
Rhonda D.
