Got my first appointment!!!

Today I'm very excited because Dr. Bakers office called me and I have my first appointment to see him!!  My initial consult is for Oct 1, 2009.  I also have an appointment with Dr. Kennedy (my PCP) that day for a follow up afterwards.  Two birds, one stone, lol

I didn't think it would be this quick but Dr. Bakers office set up a tentative surgery date and I haven't even seen him yet!  My surgery to get the Lap Band is set up for November 9, 2009.  Hopefully everything goes smoothly and I won't have to pu**** back any further...

Gosh this is so exciting!  Just thinking about all of this gets me very hopeful and kind of giddy about what is going on with my life now.  Since I can remember I've always been the bigger girl.  I honestly don't feel like this has stopped me from doing anything I REALLY wanted to do, but it does make me feel "weird" and sort of self concious sometimes.

For example, I started yoga recently.  I'm the biggest person in the class, hands down.  Some of the poses I can't get into simply because my stomach is too big to bend that way.  This past Sunday, the instructor had to come over and let me use her leg to push back so I could grab my thigh and pull it closer to my body.  It's not that it hurt or I wasn't flexible enough to do it (I can do the splits no problem.)  I just physically couldn't get my hands down there to pull myself into a ball.  It's mildly embarrassing when you're the only one in the class who can't do it without help.  I love yoga.  Everything it represents and my back feels SO much better after I'm through with a class.  It's things like this that I look forward to doing as I go through my weightloss.  Maybe next year I can do the pose without help!

Congrats on your appointment and surgery date.  You are on your way now.  Just do exactly as Dr Baker says and you will do well.  He's very strict, but I wouldn't trade him for anyone.  He is just as dedicated as he asks his patients to be.  I wouldn't want it any other way.  Best wishes for a smooth ride.

Congratulations!!  Yes Dr Baker's office will "pencil" in a surgery date, with pencil, LOL then when all is done and said, they fill it in with ink!!  Don't be 100% sure on the date though, because sometimes thigs happen and surgery needs to be moved back or moved forward, as I have seen a few have surgery earlier then the penciled in date.

Thanks for the support!  I know it's not "set in stone" yet, but it doesn't make me any  less excited!

I'll keep everyone updated if it gets changed or anything like that... Thanks again!
