Monday -- did y'all expect rain?
Hey everyone,
It's pretty slow here at the old orifice (office) today even though I'm the only one holding down the fort, and I just don't feel like starting any new projects today. Did everyone have a good weekend?
I had a FABULOUS weekend... all my kids left for FL on Saturday, and hubby was in Memphis, too. It was just me and the kitty cat until yesterday evening, and she was busy prowling the neighborhood.
Saturday, I went for a run. I managed 8.23 miles! It took me almost two hours, but I did it. I averaged around 12-13 min per mile, so not terribly fast, but that's perfectly fine with me. I've decided I'll never be a "fast" runner, so I'm going for distance and not speed. After that, I laid out in the backyard. Kitty cat came by for a scratch on her head, and then she was back to hunting birds and bugs. I went inside an hour later and was horrified to find the most embarrassing white-goggle sunburn on my face. In retrospect, I think the run did more damage than the backyard sunning since I have some good tan lines from my running top, too. I proceeded to my company picnic and had a great time there. I won a basket of cleaning supplies in BINGO and also a free smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe, yum! When I got home, the kitty came in with me and we went to sleep.
Sunday, kitty and I woke up early. She went outside again and I went to church. I traveled to LR to go with my dad and grandmother for a surprise. Sat next to Grandma through the whole thing and found out afterwards when I met them at IHOP that Grandma did not recognize me at all. I see her regularly, so this was quite entertaining to me. The way she acted in church made sense, though -- I scooted closer to her, she (and her purse) inched away... she admitted that she thought I was a robber and I was going to grab her purse and run at any minute, poor thing! I can imagine how freaked out she was when I gave her a hug at the point where we shake hands with everyone around us, ha ha ha. Her eyesight has really degenerated the last few years. I can't imagine how hard that is for her.
After breakfast, I went to the movies! I saw The Proposal which is very cute. I love both Ryan Reynolds *sigh* and Sandra Bullock, so it was a win-win for me. Then I headed to the house and took a looong nap until hubby came home (kitty did not join me this time). It was a great weekend.
What were the rest of you up to? I hope you all got to enjoy the weather. It was gorgeous!

Sounds like you had a great weekend. I went to the store twice this weekend and walked for about thirty minutes each time. lol I cheat, we dont have a track here, or a gym, so I do store walking in the ac since it is so humid n hot.
I live about 20 miles from Memphis, surrounded by rice fields (mosquito haven) so it is impossible to do anything outside in the evening here. So I spend alot of time on OH.
I am working on getting from eight cigs a day to six or less. Bought some mints, and taking chantix, but it is hard to do when everyone else around me smokes constantly. Any tips from anyone would be appreciated greatly.

As a reformed smoker, free of that nasty habit for 20+ years, I say make the rest of them quit, but that's not very practical, right?
It must be very hard, but maybe your determination will set a good example for the rest of your family. Be strong is about all I have to offer. That and a cyber pat on the back for doing so well for yourself!

Hey there!
I have 11 minutes before I need to go start dinner, so here goes!
Saturday I had a loooooooooooooooong day at work. Gotta get them all beautiful before Thursday when I take time off. If they don't have it done before then, too bad for the folks who have to look ....LOL
I love my clients, and I'd do their hair even if I didn't have to work.
Sunday we got up early ( Sherlock, AKA Old Dog, once again) like 3:30 a.m.....I went back to bed about 4:30, and got up for good around 7:00. We went to Cracker Barrel for bkfst. I had 2 eggs and a slice of toast, and a small wedge of Gary's pancakes. It was all good, but man, the fat in those eggs blew my fat grams all out of whack. After we ate, we went to Wally's to get some groceries, then came home and started cleaning like there was company coming. Nothing like company, a party or impending surgery to get me on the cleaning war path. Made a nice dinner and watched a couple of movies.
Today Gary took my car to the shop near his office to get the brakes fixed. I had to drive his truck....NOT something I'm incapable of doing, just something I don't do offten. Had to get to the bank and run some errands, and waited and waited for the rain to quit. Where the heck did that come from, anyway??? Guess it's supposed to be worse tonight and tomorrow.
Now I have two more long days at work and then I'll be off for about 6. Hoping that's enough time to recuperate. Such is the life of the self employed. No work, no pay.
Okay, time's up. Shrimp creole for dinner. I'll be back!

I'm baaaack.....
Do you look like a raccoon?? Is it that bad?
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with some quality "kitty" time in there. Such a funny story about Grandma! Bless her heart for thinking you were a robber!
BTW, keep up the great work on the running. Slow and steady is just fine!

Weekend was the bomb diggety!!! Saturday was a long but wonderful day. Went to Farmerville, LA for the Tennessee Walking Horse show. Took our show mare and our show mule. I didnt ride, but we had a great friend ride for us (asthma was cutting up, so I was the proud mommy and took pics).
We entered Cashet and Crystal in the Open Racking class, where she competed with horses that I couldnt pay for in a million years!!! But the best part of the night was when she BEAT all of those horses. Mama's girl took first place, and mama cried like a big ole baby!!! Then our mule went in the mule class and took third place. I was proud of her, b/c she was riding against the World Grand Champion Gaited Mule. She did great, considering they came from the Championship with theirs and "Fancy" came out of the thicket!!!!
LOVE MY KIDS!!! We got home at 1:30 Sunday morning, couldnt go to sleep until after 3 am, so the devil won and I didnt make church. Went to the barn (horse trainer and shoers) Mike cooked a wonderful lunch and we hung out over there and enjoyed the beautiful day!!
Today was back to the old grind, but I only have a few more weeks and I'll be looking for somewhere else to grind!!
Hope everyone has a blessed week, the rain has been wonderful and it is supposed to rain again tomorrow, Lord knows we need it.
Off to do my resume, ( I hate doing those) and fill out 3 job applications!!

Wow, updates galore! gotta love it. Well, I didn't run eight miles, as can be proven by the fact that I am still alive and kicking today.
As weekends go, this one was pretty good, at least it was productive. I promised to take Dian down to the Rivermarket on Saturday, but she decided she would rather sleep in. So, as I contemplated what I wanted to do on a beautiful, cool Saturday morning, I became a moron (even more than usual) and decided to get busy with staining our pergola and deck.
I moved everything into the yard and then went and borrowed a power washer to clean the surfaces before staining. Then I started with the pergola. Man o man, that thing took forever and had lots of nooks and crannies to work the stain into. Up the ladder, down the ladder, up the ladder, down the ladder ..... are you sensing that this turned into real work?
At any rate, I did finish the pergola on Saturday and then stained the deck on Sunday. So, although the golf course missed me terribly (or at least I missed it ), the fall project of restaining the deck got done on a cooler than normal weekend in July and it won't be calling me to action in the fall. I'll hopefully use the beautiful fall weather to do something much more fun.
Good to hear from so many OH friends today.

We had a productive weekend. Our 16 y/o is visiting in Houston with his aunts so we tore out the wall and closet between the two front rooms to make one big room for him. Sunday I went and bought paint and primer and on the way back got the dreaded call and had to go in to work since one of the nurses had to leave. Otherwise, we got a lot done with the room. Put on the primer yesterday and about made myself sick. Got some oil based primer since it was on sale and the smell was awful. Then I had to practically take a bath in mineral spirits to get all the paint off, yuck. Anyway, the room will look really good when we get done. I picked up a futon for his new lounge area on Sunday at Big Lots. They were having a customer appreciation sale and got 20% off on it.
