Saying hey
I'm delurking to say hey and introduce myself. My name is Charlee and I'm finishing up the paperwork to send to Dr. Baker in Little Rock. Not even close to a surgery date yet. I looked into WLS in 2001 and chickened out. Not this time. Dieting and weight going up down up down (emphasis on up) and now osteoarthritis, high blood pressure and just too freakin fat for color tv and I. Have. Had. Enough. My husband and daughter are very supportive of my decision. I'm telling my mom tomorrow. She will be supportive after she tries to talk me out of it. I'm real good at smiling while giving her the noncommittal nod and mm hmmm. Listening, all ears, yep, you bet!
Anyone else with AR BCBS insurance done the RnY with Dr Baker? It pays 50% coinsurance up to $4000. I'm overwhelmed by their generosity, but guess that's 4k that can stay in my pocket.
Anyone know how far out Dr. Baker is scheduling now? Just looking for a ballpark idea.
I appreciate the info and support y'all are putting out there and hope to become a part of it.

Hi Charlee and congrats on your decision to have WLS. Good luck and it will be here before you know it. I am not sure how far out he is scheduling now probably a month or two but do not quote me on that LOL. Just know you will be in great hands he is awsome and he knows his stuff so listen to him and do what he tells you and you will do great.

Hi Charlee,
Glad to see you here. Welcome aboard!! Things get a little slow around here during the summer months, folks out doing stuff and living busy lives. But....there are still plenty of people around to help you out.
Telling friends and family about your decision is usually the hardest part of preparing for this surgery. They are scared and concerned for you, and of course, they will have have thier opinions! It's the same as being pregnant....everyone has a friend/neighbor/realitive who has some sort of horror story about how they carried that 16 lb baby for 11 months before delivering it on the side of the road......I think you get my drift here.
Listen to your heart, your doctor and your friends here who have been there, done that, and let the other stuff go in one ear and out the other.
Good luck with mom!
