Farewell Tour
At the seminar I went to with Dr. Baker (Little Rock) he said not to take the "farewell tour". I burst out laughing because I already had most of my tour planned. Now it seems that I'm ahead of schedule on that tour. I probably won't be having surgery until the end of July. In anticipation, I'm totally out of control with my eating. "But I'll never get to eat this again!" seems to be in my thoughts a lot now. I need to change my thinking. Any ideas?

Yeah at my seminar they called it "The last supper". I know what you mean though..I seem to want ice cream all of the time...can't shake that craving for whatever reason. I talked to Brendi last night and she said that if she gained weight before her surgery they wouldn't do it!!! We were talking about her preop diet...do you know what your preop diet will be yet? As far as the farewell tour goes, I do seem to have a few things that I would like to get in before the big day, however I have really tried to start getting in a mind set that eating smaller portions would be good for me...and a couple of times I have tried it, of course one of them was NOT lunch today as I cleaned my plate better than a Hoover Vaccum. I hope that you will be able to get a handle on the "farewell tour". And I...will try to do better with the ice cream :)

Well, I ended my tour tonight. I will start an HMR liquid diet with added protein in the morning. That will give me 2 weeks. I don't go to the seminar until Friday and my surgery date is two weeks from tomorrow. I know to do this because of all the reading I have done on this site and the moonthly pre-meeting I attended. Vast information at that meeting. I am considering stopping smoking at the same time. Pray for all the little children in the world, as they pass my hungry smoke free body. At least for the next two weeks. LOL
You can do it! My surgery is on June 1st, 2009. Shaking in my boots!
The HMR shakes are not that bad. I found that more than anything, I missed chewing! There was nothing to crunch at all, it was all a drink.
You will have to check with your doc/nutritionist, but there are ways to add variety to the shakes, with sf/ff pudding powder. Butterscotch mmm!
Another blessing, the slushie! The raspberry lemonaide crystal light is fabulous! Get you some crushed ice, toss em in the blender and have slushies. Crunching the ice was nice too and great for your water intake. We can do this!
Keep busy, do exactly what they tell you, and remember, this is a BEGINNING not an ENDING!
What are you waiting for!? (I hated when he said that, but really.. what ARE we waiting for? Make today the first day that you are NOT going to EXIST.. youre going to LIVE!
Cheers!!

Don't let your mind play tricks on you. It's like the day before a procedure and they tell you not to eat or drink after midnight. You are fine until 11:59 and your tummy rumbles and your mouth gets dry. It's all in your head. This is the beginning of a total life change. When we got approved I kept thinking how am I going to give up eating pound cake. I just couldn't see myself giving up all of the things I loved. I second guessed myself right up to the time they took my daughter into surgery, after she went in, I knew there was no turning back. Well, I have not missed any of that stuff. To tell you the truth I haven't had any cravings for it either. I am so happy I made the right choice. I feel so much better and I never get tired of the compliments. You can do this!
