I don't post often... and am sorry to say I can't make the next support group meeting either- but I'll get to that.

One of my fitness goals was to become a lifeguard- I have been swimming since surgery and have really improved in technique and endurance.  I've gone from 395 beofre surgery to a current of 258.  I feel better, I look better... and I'm getting all kinds of attention now. At a stop light last week a man on a motorcycle blew me a kiss as he turned past me, a man at the Y commented on my smile, I have multiple dance partners when I go out on the weekends now, and a few that want more of my attention on a regular basis. (oops, not ready to settle just yet, sorry guys)  I've been single for 2 years, so there isn't anyone "special" in my life.  I find I'm buying cuter clothes... and while I may not wear it yet, I have a tee shirt dress kinda thing that was in the girls or misses section (Taylor swift tag) size 17-19 (but NOT plus size) that fits, just a bit snug for my liking around the tummy.  I feel young again!

As for the lifeguard course, I was thinking in a few more months, with a few more lbs off. Well, one came open, work is paying for it, and I'm taking it. It started last week, and I was very afraid I couldn't do the timed part of swimming 20 yards, diving down 8 ft and bringing up a 10 lb brick then swimming on my back (no use of arms) the same 20 yards.  Well, I practiced and practiced and was still 20-30 seconds over the time frame. We went to a different pool (the Y is only 4 ft deep where I was practicing) and I did it, first time out, in 1 min 20 sec... 20 seconds under the time limit!!  I've got bruises all over my shin from having to crawl out of the pool over the side, but I'm doing it! The rest of the course will be a snap....open water certification is next on my list ...  Oh... but classes are on Wed and Thurs nights... so I'll be in the water while you're in the chairs...

Thanks for listening... been wanting to post for a few days now- just finally decided to do so.

115 lbs down since surgery, 114 to go to goal- in 8 months. Weight loss has been slow the past few months, really trying to step up my protein intake.  Dancing 3 nights a week and swimming should get me there. And I only drink water while out dancing.

Mel,
Congrats on your sucess.  I know you will be so proud to have reached yet one more goal.

The dress part made me smile, I remember buying clothes a little snug, and next thing I knew, they were tooo big!!  This is such an awesome and interesting journey.  Good luck on the protein increase.  Started that today myself as I have had a regain of 35 pounds I want to get rid of.

Hugs,
Rhonda D.

Congrats, you are doing so well. I just wish I could swim. Love the water but can't swim. Sounds like you are really enjoying your life now. Keep up the good work.

If you're not going to be able to come to the meetings, at least we know you're doing something weight loss related....great excuse if you ask me!

Thank you all for the replies...and yes, I am lovin' life now!  Lifeguard instructor told me and 4 others we were the top 5 in the class of 20- and recommended us all to lifeguard at the community center we were at.  What a boost!!  Me, the heaviest person in the class-with all those slim, trim, fit teens.... and I'm in the top 5...I had to call a couple friends and brag. lol.  You all have a wonderful day!
