Fishing Anyone?

I went on a trout fishing outing today on the Little Red River with some of my former coworkers.  We try to go once or twice a year and always have a good time.   This year was no exception.  We caught a bunch of nice fish today.

Here is a pic of one of the brown trout I caught.  It was 18 inches long and weighed 2.5 pounds.  One of my buddies caught a 23 inch - 6.5 pound rainbow.  We each got a limit of nice fish to bring home and had to release 10 fish in the "must release immediately"  slot of 16 - 24 inches.

Just wanted to share the fun with a pic.

Nice fish!

Fishing in San Diego is probably the single thing I miss the most. After deep sea fishing all my life, fresh water angling is kind of like watching paint dry. But....if I could catch beauties like this one, I might be persuaded to give it a try.

Glad you had one day of no rain to be able to be out and about. Looks like another wet week

I love deep sea fishing too.  But you have to get up before breakfast if you want to go deep sea fishing and you live in Arkansas. KWIM?

Yeah, get up early, pay $225 for plane tickets, then pay $60 for a spot on a 1/2 day boat with 75 other folks. Hmmmm, might rethink this fresh water thing!!!

Johnny would be jealous!! The rain has kept us from doing much fishing. He's starting to get pretty peeved about it...lol.

When are we going to see pictures of the new boat?  Or did I miss them?   You may need that boat just to go to the grocery store if it doesn't quit raining pretty soon.

The boat is almost done...lol. There are 2 bench seats in the front that need to go to the upholstery shop, but other than that it looks great! Right now it is covered but in the backyard. The cover has cradled in and is holding some major water. Ugh. I'm going to be able to use it in the ditch behind our house before too long! We've been hearing of some great fishing around here lately, but it never eases up on our days off!

I WANNA GOOOOOO!!! in my best whiny voice I have.  Mike and I LOVE to fish, Ive never trout fished, but Mike has.  We like to bass, crappie, bream fish and then I love to tightline at the river for drum or catfish.

Oh Susan, if you could ever go when they were biting as fast as you put bait in the water, you would LOVE it.  I also love the tightline, b/c then, I can forget everything but the water and relax.

Maybe we could get up an OH trip, lol.

Good job Steve,
Rhonda

I hear ya on the tight lining.  That's the method we used to get these trout.   Very relaxing and enjoyable.

Way to go, fishing is so much fun.  A couple of years ago, we took my boys camping on the Little Red for Thanksgiving and they caught their first trout.  Needless to say, they are still stuck on trout fishing.  They both ended up catching 3 each that time.  We had a ball.
