Good morning all! I've been lurking for about 3 months now and finally decided to post to our local board to get some support! I am so excited by the wealth of information and first hand experience that this site offers!

So heres a little history on me! I'm 26., married, with an almost 5 year old son. I teach kindergarten in a local school district and have been looking into this surgery for about 3 years now.
Neither one of our insurances (my husbands or myselfs) will cover this surgery so we are self payI Our son will be going to kindergarten in the fall which will be saving us $600/month and I downgraded in vehicles saving another $200/month so we have the funds to pay! I will have surgery on June 3rd with Dr. Roller in Springdale! I am more than excited---terrified but excited!
I pray for no complications and things to go routinely and smoothly!

All the prayers and support with be greatly appreciated! Have a great weekend!

Hi Meagan!  Good luck with your surgery.  Dr. Roller rocks.  He did my surgery last June.  They offer great support and follow-up.  All of his staff are great.  I know you must be excited as all get out.  These next few weeks will just fly by.  The people on this site can really help you out.  They are all very knowledgeable.  Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the replies ladies! I'm excited to get to know everyone on here!

I have spent the evening finding some protein powders online to order samples to begin soon. The NUT wants me to lose 15lbs before surgery and I'm not doing too great on getting there!

I have been thinking of every meal as my last meal for a couple of weeks. Not going to get those 15lbs off that way! Will start suplimenting this week to get a few pounds off before my pre-op appointment on the 21st!

Do you think the protein shake for breakfast will get me through till lunch??? I teach kindergarten and I NEVER stop all day long!

Thanks for the support girls! I am really excited! Decided I better get busy on my two shakes and one meal a day plan today! I started it this morning and I'm still alive!

Shauna---My husband and I were at Dr. Roller's office the night you talked about your experience a couple months ago! I thought---that's what I want to look like....lol....

As I get closer I am terrified about going under and having surgery but I won't chicken out! Bring on the skinny jeans!

One month to surgery! WOHOOO!!!

I am flattered and embarassed at the same time! You are the first person I have met that was there that night and I left there feeling slightly retarded...lol. I didn't know what to say and while I'm not really a nervous speaker, I am a fidgeter BAD! I feel like a 5 year old at a school play...lol. I just can't stand still for the life of me!

I wasn't the least bit worried about going under until I got to the hospital for prep. Boy howdy...lol. I can't remember much after they gave me happy medicine, but I can remember the emotional meltdown when they wheeled me down the hall away from my husband! I think that's normal.

Skinny jeans....ahh. I have a pair of skinny jeans that a girlfriend gave to me because they were her skinny jeans. I can remember thinking how thin she was at the point she wore them. People gave her a lot of grief about being anorexic...blah blah blah. I can fit into them! I am no where near anorexic and no one accuses me of being so but the comparison sure does help!

Shawna---well...don't be embarrased! My husband and I sat in the corner and didnt speak up at all! All I could think was that I would be where you are in a year!

My biggest fear is leaving my son behind....I know my husband can manage but if something happens to me I don't want to have left trying to be healthier! Enough about that! I know things will go textbook and I'll have no problems!

I was a wreck leaving my family when they wheeled me away for my c-section and I'm sure this time will be no different! Any type of surgery is terrifying! Maybe after all this we can go to lunch.....lol....just kidding...meet you for a protein shake....hahaha.....or maybe before so I can actually have something to eat!

Heck yea! If you want to get together sometime, just let me know =)

The first meeting I ever went to, I arrived on time. This meant I had to sit in the very front because the room was packed! I was mortified. The second seminar I went to (for my husband), I got there a few minutes before it started and walked right up front...lol.

The best thing about Dr.Roller is how thorough they check you before they operate on you. He will not go into surgery with you if he doesn't think your body can handle it.
