Hi everybody!  Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself.  I've been lurking around for a few weeks, but I went to a seminar Monday and decided to sign up!  I'm happily married and a nurse in central Arkansas.  I started out thinking about lapband but am now considering RNY, and my surgeon will be Dr. Gibbs.   Am excited to begin my journey to be healthy!  I'm sure I'll be asking ya'll lots of questions in the coming months.  I'm kind of new to forums and message boards in general, so if I ask something silly I apologize in advance!  hehe

'Til next time,

Welcome to the group.  Lots of very nice people on here.  Hope to see you at the support meeting sometime.  Dr. Gibbs is wonderful!

Welcome to the board! I also thought I wanted the lapband. RNY was the right decision for me. Don't fret the "silly" questions. If you are curious about something, chances are that there is another lurker wondering the same thing!

Keep us updated. This board needs some more regulars!

Congratulations on your decision! It is an amazing journey! Although I had Lap-Band I would be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have or just listen if you need to talk! Just wanted to say a quick hello and welcome you to our little corner of the world!

Thanks for the replies!  I think I will definitely become a regular here.  I think of questions often and always check here first to see if it's been asked/answered, and almost all of them have.  I forgot to mention that my husband will also be having WLS with Dr. Gibbs.  He's a bit ahead of me in the process, and is already scheduled for May 18.  His work situation is a bit more flexible than mine, and for other additional reasons I may wait to have my surgery until the fall.  It all depends.  I have been putting off having "the conversation" with my boss until I get approved by insurance, etc.   Hope to hear something regarding all of that as early as next week, since my insurance company doesn't require preauth letters, psych eval, etc.

Will keep ya'll posted!  :-)
