1 week out..... 1 little worry
hello friends!
So today I am 1 week out. I have been eating very little... Its so hard to eat now.... Its crazy... Im getting cold now instaed of hot! WOW!!! I'm loving it....
I did this week have a scare though. I had 6 small mints, and I remember chewing all but 2 of them... Then I kept thinking that they were stuck and was just worrying myself sick... if something feells like its stuck, or is stuck, would you be able to take in anymore food and liquids without anything happening???
Other then that little scare, Im doing well..... no morepain....

Honey, please do yourself (and your worrying "mothers") a favor and get rid of the mints!!! I hope they were at least sugar free? You really don't need anything like that, so please, please just stay away from them. Better to be safe than sorry, and take full advantage of changing your lifestyle.
Hope I'm not being **tchy...just concerned.

Susan,
Your not at all being **tchy... I am the one who made the mistake of having the mint, and I now know that mints are bad to have... I have also heard that you can't have gum.... It was my fault, and I appreciate you telling me that... And I agree, its always better to be safe than sorry.....
Love you

I would venture to say that the mint was not stuck because if it was, you would definitely know it. I've never had a heart attack, but that's what I imagine one feels like! When I was first learning how to eat and would get something "stuck" I would make my husband forcefully pat my back. I don't know if it distracted from the real pain or what, but it made me feel better!
My doctor allows gum after a certain time period. That's one of those things that varies from surgeon to surgeon.

Hi!!!
I'm so glad you're not in pain anymore!
I'm also SUPER-glad that you learned your lesson with the mints! You know that was a bad choice!
If something is stuck, it doesn't necessarily mean that you can't take anything else in. It can be stuck from exiting the stoma, but not BLOCKING the stoma (if that makes any sense)!
When I was a few days out, I got a percocet (I think that's the painkiller they give you post-op) stuck. From then on out, I cut them in 1/2. (That was only in the very beginning when I was still swollen on the inside. My prescription multi-vitamins are bigger than the percocet was and they go down whole just fine.)
