it's Tuesday, what are you doing? And more about Thursday's meeting

Hey gang,

Running out the door but wanted to get this started.

I'm thinking about adding something to the meeting Thursday. How about if we put together a " TopTen Rules for WLS" to give as a hand out to the pre-ops?  I think it would be great for them, as well as reinforce the rules to us all.

So, we'll chat a bit about protein and then do some brainstorming for the Top Ten

See ya

Hi everyone! Only have a second to post this....things have been very hectic around here!

My intake:

B- biscuit and gravy with sausage...about 3 bites (this was not a good choice....still too tight for bread I guess!)

L-grilled chicken strip and leftover green beans

S-almonds

D-meatloaf and scalloped potaotes and maybe some corn

Ok everyone....have a great day! Take care!

Great day as always, Karen!

Are you really only 10lbs from goal??? That's simply amazing, my dear.

I'm sure running after those kidlets has helped a lot.

You take care

That sounds like a good idea, Susan.  I think we'd all agree that taking vitamins religiously, chewing thoroughly, and no drinking with meals are at the top of the list... I'll have to see what others come to mind.

I'm still trying to think of good ideas for protein outside the norm.  I like to make a smoothie before bed these days with some of that nectar stuff.  I got the Caribbean Cooler yesterday -- boy, is that coconutty.  I need to add some serious berry-age to cut back on that, I think.  I haven't gotten the gumption up to try another vanilla-type protein or I'd be adding it to my tea lattes every day.  For now, I've got that nasty GNC stuff that won't dissolve.

My run last night went pretty well.  It always seems easier in hindsight than it does at the time I'm actually doing it.  Odd.  Truly, though, it was a little easier than it was last week but it still took a lot of effort to complete.  Thursday is supposed to be "magic mile" day -- they're going to time how long it takes each person to complete a mile so we'll have a benchmark -- but I'm going to hang with you good folks instead. ;-)  No worries, I'll do my mile after I get home.  It'll be a good "easy" prep for the 5k Saturday.  Tonight I get to kill time while Megan has soccer practice.  I've got lots of books and magazines with me so no big ordeal, though I do wish I could spend the time with my little kids... I miss them.

Have a good day!

I bought some samples from Vitalady for a friend at work and a couple for me too. I wanted her to try the fuzzy navel since I love it so much, but thought a change of pace would be good for me, so I got the Crystal Sky and Caribbean Cooler. Really liked the Crystal Sky, not the caribbean cooler so much. It's ok if I mixed it with the crystal lite strawberry banana, since it diluted the coconut flavor a bit. They say it's Pina Colada, but during my drinking days I never tasted one like that!  LOL

We could make you run in the parking lot and check you for form!  You know I'm kidding, I jealous.  Running is something my repaired ankle would never allow me to ever do again. You my hero, Wendy!

Pina Colada, HA!  I was wondering about that the first time I tried it, too... my berrylicious experiment last night was fairly successful, so I'll be able to chug down the tub - thank goodness!

You are too sweet, Susan.  You know, you're a hero to many of us here, too, myself included. *smooches*

Ah, going with the high protien, low carb ratio, huh?  As long as you get in 50 grams of carbs a day you'll be ok. I personally think this is a good tactic, Steve. I want to say my Nut (no longer with Baptist) told me to do 60% protein, and 20% each carb/fat early out.

Hope your day is a good one!

Hi all.

Well today was exhausting.  That's pretty bad considering I worked from home today.  But from the moment I got off work, I was running, running & running and NONE of it was for ME.

Sometimes I feel like I give every single moment of my life to others - whether it is work or kids or my parents or my husband.  Today was one of those days where I just felt like I couldn't do it anymore.  I feel like I am sitting here half comatose.  But posting on here tends to be uplifting to me - not just because I consider you guys some of my friends, but because the support I give on here helps ME as much as it helps anyone else.  And I need some ME time right now.

In any event, I'm excited about Thursday's meeting, even though it will be one more thing I have to pack in this week - at least THIS "packed in" thing is for ME, you know?  I already have my own set of "top ten rules" to idiot-proof-WLS-success on my OH page (the story section) to read from time to time to remind myself of what I need to keep doing.  I never finished it though.  I'll try to think of stuff before Thursday.

I think I'm going to bring some of my Swiss Miss Diet Cocoa mixes with a tbsp or 2 of the chocolate protein powder I mix it with in small snack baggies.  I enjoy it so much.  It doesn't even TASTE like a protein drink to me - just hot cocoa.  So I really wish everyone could try it.  My aunt says I make the best protein drinks that don't TASTE like protein drinks - she always likes the stuff I come up with.  So I think some people may like it too.  I'd love it if someone tried it and liked it.  I'm going to try to make time to do that.  Some people may not want to take protein powder from someone in a baggie - but I don't have cooties, I promise.  I'll bring 10 or 20 to be sure I have enough - IF I get time... no promises.

I'm thinking I may bring a list of my favorite protein sample websites too.  Some people actually just order or buy entire TUBS of protein just to find out they don't like them later on - then have to go to the trouble of returning them (if it was allowed wherever they bought them) or just losing that $$$ if it is not.  It is SOOO much more frugal to order and try protein by the sample size before investing in an entire tub.  It's actually more exciting too because you can try MULTIPLE flavors, a different one every day if you want, without much up front investment.  So I may bring a list of sample websites that I have dealt with that I know treat people right.  Again... no promises... IF I have time.

In any event, here was my Monday...

Oh Wendy, we're so much alike!   I decided to take next Tuesday off to have a day to myself. Didn't have anyone scheduled and, frankly, it's the one perk of being self-employed....you can just say ***w it and take off a day if you want. Well, yesterday one of my favorite clients asked for an appointment Tuesday, and instead of just telling her I was taking the day off, I scheduled her for 11:00. I figured I'd go do her hair then spend some time shopping, and she'll never know I came in just for her. She'd never allow it if I told her my plans.

We're people pleasers. Honestly, I think it's part of our obese personalities coming out. While we're heavy, we'd do just about anything to please people in order to be accepted.

Great idea on the protein powders. Don't sweat it if you run out of time. I have some chocolate protein and some of those cocoa mixes. If I have time I'll make a few too.

Hugs to ya

Susan
