Hey Honey,

I know you said you were taking your laptop with you to the hospital, so I wanted to check in. You are probably still woozy and sleeping, but when you're not....

GET UP AND WALK!!!!!

Welcome to the loser's bench.

Yes, WALK WALK WALK!!!  It's an ordeal when you're still having to drag that monitor and drip around with you, but I swear it'll make you feel better and speed up the healing process.

LET US HEAR FROM YOU!!!!

My mom had fever right after her surgery too.  (She definately was NOT deep breathing and coughing enough.  But when she started, that fever started going down and went away.  It took a full day though!)

That coughing is what made me hurt post-op too!  I felt like I had done a zillion sit-ups & everytime I coughed, those muscles seemed to be the EXACT ones used for those zillion sit-ups I hadn't done!  LOL  I had pain from the constant hiccups I was prone to for whatever reason as an immediate post-op.  (Leave it to me to have something weird like constant hiccups begin after surgery.  Every hiccup used to afore-mentioned muscles.)

My mom had horrible gas with her surgery too.  I didn't have any.  She had LAP though and I had open.  I don't remember which you had, but either way - that will get better.

See you Thursday!!!

OOOO It still hurts =( and yes, my arms are sore from doing the pull-ups I did in bed with the nifty little bar... LOL... I walked a lot.... I actually walked the night I was in Intermediate care... 2 times!!! Yaaayyyy I was proud of myself and made ther nurse there her star patient she said... Gas went away after I did laps.. My pain was a 4 And theres a ifty sign hanging in my room that said if your pain is a 4, were walking the floor.... LOL... And it was very true.... thats the 1st thing I would tell Pre-ops now to deep bresth and cough, and to WALK.... Thanks for being the WONDERFUL Post-ops to tell me that everyone... I had LAP RNY And dad told me he told them that he did Proximal on me...

Sorry I wasnt there =( i WAS too sore and needed to go home because of the weather....

YAY!!! So glad to hear from you! Keep up the good work. I hated the breathing exercises, but my mom is a respiratory therapist so I knew what would happen should I decide to adopt shallow breathing instead!

At Dr.Roller's seminar, I was asked if I had any pain immediately post-op. My reply...."I had MORPHINE!"

Drugs are good!!! I went in with the mindset that I was nothing special if I went through this entire process with minimal pain meds. No one was going to give me an award or give me a pat on the back. No reason to be in pain if you don't have to be so I loaded up! I was still able to walk, but I slept well and that helped me recover.

Keep us updated on how you're doing!
