It's Sunday, what's happening and what did you eat yesterday???

Well, yesterday didn't end up being as bad as I thought it would be. Unfortunately I had a cancellation that, while it gave me time to eat, I wasn't making $$, so I guess it worked out evenly.

Anyway, the snow didn't keep us from going to the symphony last night. It  was a wonderful evening.

So, here's how the day shook out food wise:

latte (of course)

bkfst burrito (yeah, I'm in a rut)

1/2 PB&J on double fiber bread

Cedarlane bean, rice and cheese burrito

Latte--2%

grilled chicken breast, topped w/ grilled onions and feta, cucumber/tomato salad

protein drink

/glad you had a good time at the symphony last night.   I didn't let the snow/sleet keep me off the golf course yesterday either.   I must have wanted to get out pretty bad to play in the wet and cold but had a good time nonetheless.   Just taking it easy today.  Where is everybody today?

Hey Susan and everyone,
I am still hanging in here. Trying to get ready for my 2 year labs and check up next month. Yesterday I actually had roast for the 1st time since surgery! It was lean but oh sooo good!
Skinny Latte
couple bites lean chuck roast
2 carrots and 1/2 potato wedge
1/2 banana 3 strawberrries & hand full of grapes
Lots & Lots of u/sweet tea
lettuce & tomato salad w/ ranch
slice of co-jac cheese and 5 crackers
Not so healthy and hardly any protein....it happens like that sometimes! Today is a better day!

Let us know how the 2 yr visit goes, we all want to know. Check out the suggestion I gave for the protein drinks....it really is great.
Too bad Drug Emporium doesn't sell the Nectar protein mix any more, but I found a couple of sites on line that sell it for less than $25. Not too bad.

I buy the English roast at Kroger and crock pot it for 10 hours of so and you can cut it with a fork. Hmmmm maybe it's time for one this week.

Take care, Honey!!

Hey Darlin'

Hope you have a good week!

I understand there's a trick to mixing protein powder to hot drinks. Any suggestions?  I have some chocolate protein that would be great added to my Swiss Miss, but I'm a little nervous that it will get all clumpy.

What inquiring minds want to know

I mix up my Swiss Miss cocoa mix with 8 or 9 ounces of water in a BLENDER BOTTLE.  (The mix only calls for 3/4 cup if memory serves.  But with the added chocolate protein powder in it, it can definately use a full cup of water.  Sometimes I even use 9 ounces per mix - but it is definately waterier when you do that.  If you want it creamier and somewhat frothy, you have to use 8 ounces only.)

I add one level tablespoon of chocolate protein powder to it.  (I use this http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3311354)

Shake well.  Really well.

Then I pour it into a styrofoam mug and nuke (microwave) it for 2 minutes.  (Warning:  The amount of time you need to heat it for will depend on the microwave.)  You want it hot, but not TOO hot.  If you OVERheat it, it WILL clump for sure.  But trust me, you can get it hot enough without over heating it (as in so hot you could burn your throat when you swallow).

The key to making any HOT protein drink is to:
1) mix it VERY WELL (no powder residue left, just fluid mixture) BEFORE you heat it
2) do not OVERheat it

I'll save some of you some trouble too, if you overheat it... that mug is gone.  There is NOTHING that can be done (that I have found) to "save" it.  Just pour it down the sink and start over.

Hope that helps!

Gosh, don't you just love Pei Wei's hot and sour soup?  It's the only way this girl will EVER eat tofu!!

Despite being so busy it looks like you held your own. Hope I'll be able to say the same by the end of my very busy week at work.

Take care!

Hey gang,
Still alive, sorta, here.  I have spent the most of the week in bed, barely enough energy to function.  On the days Ive gotten out and tried to work, Ive eeked back home and been to bed every night this past week by 7 pm.  Obviously, still very sick.  Breathing better, but still extremely weak, cant get any energy, try to get up and out to get energy, and it doesnt work.  So I go to work, and come home and go to bed.  Gonna call the doctor tomorrow and say, "Im breathing fine, but everyone says to call you.  I just dont feel good"  Not sure what he will do, but Im gonna give it a shot.

Eating has been touch and go all week, b/c everything I eat pretty much goes in the top and out the bottom, in that order, w/o stopping for long.

Yesterday I didnt even get out of bed until 1 pm, so food was sketchy at best.

Breakfast-Bowl of cereal w/soy
Lunch-Wheat crackers and cheese
Mid meal snack-Protein drink
Dinner-4-5 bites of lean steak, 2 bites of onion and 3 bites of potato
After dinner- Protein drink
Lots of crystal lite and u/s tea

Sunday was better.  Went to the barn to see my horse, Mike bought a new on today, so now we own 3 black tennessee walking horses.  Gonna be a busy show season.  Was COLD all day, going to bed to see if I can find a warm spot.

Hope all are doing better than I am, will drop in tomorrow if I feel like it.
Hugs from afar,
Rhonda D
