Not me I am going right here in the US. I have a friend that is bound and determined that he is going to Mexico. I have tryed to talk him out of it but he father just died from complication of diabetes and he said he doesnt want to live like that. His insurance will not pay for lapband or RNY. I told him I would help him research to find the right Doc and Hospital in Mexico. Can anyone help me with this. Any suggestions? And will the Doc in Arkansas adjust his band for him or will he have to go to Mexico each time he needs it done.

Thanks

I think there is a board for people that go to Mexico for WLS. Also, Michelle (eggface) @ theworldaccordingtoeggface.com (I think is her website) went to Mexico for RNY. No doctor here will do anything WLS related for him so *IMO* I wouldn't have the band, I would have RNY since RNY does not require as many doctor visits in the beginning. While there is no guarantee that either will "cure" his diabetes, RNY is much more likely to give him the results he is looking and will most likely be immediate. The DS was not an option for me in any way, shape or form so I know very little about it. However, I encourage all WLS patients to research all of their options before settling for one.
