I was wondering if anyone knows of any GOOD Dr's in the Jax, Sherwood, NLR area that is knowledgeable in WLS???  I'm looking for a PCP who has knowledge is postop care. My dr on base apparently doesnt have a clue and really doesnt give a **** that I suddenly lost 8lbs in two weeks time (mind you I DONT have 8lbs to spare) and I'm TOTALLY over it where he is concerned.

Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!
Cathi

Call Dr. Wellborn's office and get a name.  I am sure he knows someone decent out there.

I will be happy with thighs that don't touch!

I already did, they couldn't help. Problem is there is not a whole lot of Tricare Prime doctors out there.

Well, I use Dr. Jason Merrick at Cabot Medical Clinic and I know he takes your insurance.  A friend that has it uses him also.  I know it is not the direction you are looking for, but close to the base.

Hope that helps.

My PCP is Dr. Devon Ballard at Sherwood Family Medical. He and his staff have been awesome before, during and after my surgery. Highly recommend him.

My husband just retired from the military and I go to Ann D. Layton in Jacksonville.  I'm not sure how familiar she is with WLS because I had my surgery in December and my next appointment with her isn't until April, but I LOVE her!  She is extremely friendly and really takes her time to visit with you during appointments and talk to you about any concerns you have.  She is very sincere in her patient care, and everyone I've sent to her loves her to death.

Yeah...I think she'd be VERY concered about 8 lbs. in 2 weeks considering your size!  Base doctors....what can I say?  They're hit and miss.  Unfortunately, the last one I was assigned to was a BIG miss!!!

Thanks for posting. After my waste of time appt last friday I will NEVER go back to the base clinic. My 8lbs in 2wks was dismissed. I was told, "maybe your scale is wrong", "dont know what the big deal is you're with 5lbs of what you were a year ago". I told that dill head that I had been up to 128 and suddenly dropped down to 119....WTF??? Then he said "we did a million dollars worth of labs last summer". I just wanted to say BFD so you'll do a million more. Sheesh.  Made me feel like a damn fool.

I will be checking to see if she is Tricare Prime.

thanks so much!

Dr. Layton does accept Tricare Prime...that's what we have as well.  Get this...we elected to continue with Tricare Prime even after retirement, and we had to have the commander sign a waiver so that I could continue to see Dr. Layton!  What a bunch of red tape....
