Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield question

Has anyone used Ark BCBS for coverage?  I was told it would take about 2-6 weeks for approval, but last night I went to a support meeting and they said BCBS takes anywhere from 2-6 months.  Does anyone have experience with them and how long did it take for approval?  Also, the girl said they only have one person approving for the whole state - UGH!!!
thanks

I have BCBS (it's a corporate policy, but claims/approvals go through each state's office) and my approval took only one day...

I have BCBS and let me just point out policies vary GREATLY when it comes to them! I think it was less than 72 hours for both my husband and I. Good luck!

I am Lap Band, but I'm sure the process is about the same.  My request was submitted last Friday and I had my approval by yesterday!!!!  My doctor's office said that the AR BCBS is VERY fast with a typical 3 day turn-around.  Good luck!!

Every BCBS is different based on what their internal policy is for time allocation given to approve or deny.  I had Anthem National BCBS.  Their internal policy allowed them 14 calender days to approve or deny a claim.  I called every single day.  My approval took the entire 14 days.  (But honestly, I think they dropped the ball when the initial papers were faxed or it would have been approved faster.)

Well, it was submitted on Monday and I had a letter in Saturday's mail approving me!  It was good news as I was in the car headed over to bury my grandmother after a 17 day stay in the ICU.  Thanks to all who took the time to answer -
