Great meeting last night, Ya'll!

I throughly enjoyed the support group meeting last night, and can honestly say that I learned something from EVERYONE there.  Yes, I'm completely aware of the fact that I'm a motor-mouth and I really did try to keep it zipped for the most part, but when Mary's husband made that remark about her mom being the "List Nazi", I just lost it!  That was so funny because that's exactly what Mallory calls me!  She had fun at the meeting too.  Although she didn't say much to anyone, she told me afterwards how much she enjoyed it and that thought everyone was very nice.

Having not seen Wendy 2 and Jan since October, I was completely blown away with how wonderful you both looked!!!  Congratulations to you both!  I can't wait until I can shock people like that. Amazing!!!

Susan, I hate that you're not going to be a moderator but understand why, and I guess as long as you still keep in touch then I won't pout.

  My husband and I went to the Bariatric Support Group last night (the newbie/ pre-op group @ 6 pm in room 22) and was pleased with the way everyone seemed truly concerned with other people.  It was heartwarming to hear everyone's stories, knowing you guys have gone through what all of us in the newbie group were wondering, thinking and contemplating

 Right now, we are dealing with our insurance company trying to get approval.  One would think the insurance companies would be more acceptive and approve WLS over having to pay out lots of money for complications due to morbid obesity.  But then again, they've not asked for my opinion on such things!

 Hubby and I are scheduled for the meeting we thought we were going to last night.. the Seminar, next Tuesday afternoon.  I didn't realize until after the fact we were @ the Support Group until we were there for awhile!  Oh well, we'll need to attend both of them anyway! Plus, it gives us a chance to get out of town for an afternoon and go to the big City! hahah!

 Any great words of wisdom, caution, etc. please feel free to share with us.  We are a blank slate and willing to learn us much as we can!

Hey Peggy!  Unfortunately, I didn't go to the pre-op meeting last night, so I didn't get a chance to meet you.  We had an appointment with Dr. Gibbs yesterday afternoon so we were pretty wiped out by 7:00 p.m.  My daughter and I had our RNYs on 12/3 and I don't know what I would have done with out my "buddies" at OH!  You can ask them anything and they will help right away.  Lauren's pre-op meeting (the one you attended last night) is informative,  but I had already learned so much from Susan, Jan, Wendy 2 and the others that it was a bit repetitive for me.  Susan said last night that she and Lauren had talked about inviting the pre-ops to go ahead and attend the post-op support group meetings (after they've been to a pre-op meeting), even if they haven't had surgery yet, just to keep them in the "flow" so to speak.  So come to the post-op meeting next month with us!  I think it'll be a great one, because from what I understand a psychologist is coming to speak to both groups about body image issues, then we'll break up for our pre and post-op meetings...and ya'll can just come on to the post-op meeting.  (I'm the loud redhead!)

Who is your surgeon?  Is his seminar the one you are going to next Tuesday afternoon?  I wish I had some words of wisdom, but I'm a newbie myself and still learning.  My best suggestion for ya'll right now is to stay active on this board because everyone is wonderful!  That, and EAT ALL THE PIZZA AND JUNK FOOD YOU CAN NOW BECAUSE SOON YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO!!!!  Ha, ha....I know that's horrible of me, but there are days I swear I'd shave my head to be able to eat a few chicken mcnuggets from McDonalds!!!!

Hang in there with the insurance and don't let up on them.  Maybe post your insurance probs and some members will give you some tips on how to deal with them.  Just don't give up.....you'll get approved in time and we're all here for you!  Love, Lisa

Glad the meeting went so well.  Sorry I missed it.  My stepson's first guitar lesson was last nite.  I really needed a meeting too.  Lots of money pressures here.  ugh...but I do have a steady job.  And weight loss..so that's a combination I used to not have...if I were having money issues before..I'd be eating everything in site to feel better.

 I wondered where you were!  I think everyone I know is feeling that financial crunch nowdays.  At least our grocery bills have gone down!

The support group meetings are the second Thursday of every month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.  The post-ops meet in a little room downstairs off of the cafeteria (how ironic!).  Next month will be a really good one because a psychologist is coming to speak about body image issues!

"Susandoeshair" is our big chief so get in touch with her and she can tell you more about it.  I hope we'll see you there!  Lisa
