Support Group meeting---CLOTHING EXCHANGE????
Hey everyone,
We briefly talked about doing a clothing exchange at last month's meeting/party. Do we want to do it?
Here's what exchange organizers have done with theirs:
You get to the meeting 30 minutes early, or so, to put out the clothes sorted by size. Then, you go ahead and have your regular meeting BEFORE you start the exchange. This gives late comers an equal chance to participate. Everyone brings their own bags to take thier goodies home.
The number one rule is this: IF YOU STILL HAVE CLOTHES LEFT ON THE TABLES, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR TAKING THEM BACK HOME. Unless there is someone willing to take them to a shelter or Goodwill, you must take them back with you. I've heard of organizers being stuck with piles of clothes after an exchange and I'm not willing to deal with that. Sorry to be a pooper, but that's that!
Okay, girls and boys, what do you think?? Ideas? Thoughts? Let's talk about this!
I have an agenda planned, this would just be a little extra to help out folks who need clothes.

Hi Susan!
I think it's a wonderful idea! Unfortunately I won't have much to contribute because I have friends begging for my clothes and I take items to the church food pantry as well, but from now on I'll start saving items for the exchange. I know that I personally don't want to spend a lot of money while I'm "downsizing" and would be thrilled to receive used items that others have to offer. I'd just suggest that no one bring tons of clothes at a time, and that way they won't have a ton to wagg back home.
January's meeting is this Thursday night, right? See you there! Lisa
