I am feeling better and now bored!

I am getting my strength back finally.  But of course I regained my strength much faster than the doctors expected.  They predicted I would just now be coming home from the hospital.  I am driving again and have gone shopping a couple of times by myself.  I still can't do stairs very well and can only shop where they have buggies.  And of course I go really slow.

I have found myself eating a lot of things I shouldn't and I think it is because I am home doing nothing most of the time.  I plan to go back to the gym Monday when the girls go back to school.  I have lost 55 pounds all together but not much of that has been this month since I have been home.  But of course I haven't been exercising at all.

My mom thinks I am eating to much and I sometimes think that myself.  I can eat a half of a sandwich and I am full and today for  breakfast I had a scrambled egg and 3/4 piece of toast.  I think once I start walking again things will begin to move.  I do have to admit that over Christmas I did have some chip and dip.  Nothing sweet though.

I have not been measuring or counting anything mostly because I just didn't feel like it but I plan to start keeping track of it next week.  I go back and see Dr. Baker on Jan 20th.

Amy,
I am so glad you are feeling better. You've really had a hard time of it, but I hope the worst is behind you. Just take your time and let you body heal. Then things will start falling into place. I send you my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Take care!!

Glad you're feeling better.

You are eating too much.  At a little over 2 months out, you should just be up to 4 - 6 tablespoons per meal/snack.  You should NEVER go over 8 tablespoons per meal (1/2 cup).  An egg is about 4 tablespoons by itself.  3/4 piece of toast would put you over.

Eating until "full" is one of the main mistakes that post-ops make.  Research has shown that post-ops who measure their meals have a much higher success rate than those that eat until “full".  If you are eating until you feel "full", you have eaten enough food to fill your pouch to capacity.  The problem with this is that, over time, it will take more and more to give you that "full" feeling.  This will lead to regain long-term and inadequate short-term weight loss in some cases. (Source: OH Magazine January-February 2008)

So PLEASE start measuring your meals/snacks ASAP.  You really HAVE to do this whether you feel like it or not if you want to give yourself the best chance of success.  After all you've been through especially, don't you WANT to give yourself the best chance of success available to yourself?

Good luck and please start complying.

Wen
