Hey every body....

I think I've given everyone enough of a break here, including myself. Christmas is over, the New Year is almost here, so it's time to get cracking and start posting again!!!!!

This time of the year is hard to find time to get onto the computer and post, but now is a time when most of us need our special kind of support more than ever. Some of us may have strayed off the program with all the food around and pressures to go back to "the old ways". I know I've certainly fallen off the wagon, not a lot, but more than I'm comfortable with. We all get so busy with the holiday hustle and bustle, trying to please everyone, we forget ourselves and what we need to do.

Even if you're not located in an area where you can attend a support group, this can be that group. Studies show that by attending only 5 support group meetings a year you have a 77% higher chance of reaching and then maintaining your goal. The point is this: don't try to do this alone, especially this time of the year when you might be struggling. We're here to help and support you!

So....I want everyone who's going to make this commitment to chime in....let us know you're here and ready to face a New Year!

Here's wishing every one a healthy and happy New Year

Susan

Count me in.  Like many, I haven't been on here much lately, but I know I need to be.  I did pretty well over the holidays and actually lost weight in December for the first time in my life (Big pat on the back).  This is a great group for accountability and encouragement and we all need lots of both of those things to be successful.

I had a lot of success last year and this group is a big reason for that.  I have learned much here and find the support of others *****ally understand to be critical to maintaining the right attitude.  I want to lose another 60 pounds next year and will need to keep the support and encouragement of this group to make it.   Way too easy to give in to the ways of the world without it.

I hope we can get everyone back to posting and encouraging each other daily.  If we do, then we will all be more successful.   We are all way too busy, but taking some time for supporting each other is something we will all benefit from.

Here's to a great 2009!

Congratulations, Steve!  Isn't it great to finally break the binge eating cycle for once? Wait until you start thinking about a New Year's resolution that doesn't start out "go on a diet".  It's a truely liberating feeling.

My weight today is the same as it was on 11/20...124.4  It's my very own Christmas miracle. I can't say in all honesty that I was firmly in the groove with my eating. I grazed all day on Christmas, something that I don't do, but allowed myself the one day. It wasn't as fun as it used to be, felt guilty even though I had given myself permission to snack. The good news is the snacks were all made with reduced fat cheeses and such.

Hope you have a great day, Steve. Be careful.....nasty weather coming in.

IM IN!!!!!!

Sadly, I must start my new year out saying I will lose the weight!!!  Thanks to steroids and the holidays (I didnt make the best choices) and the discovery of more sugar tolerated than I need, I have 30 pounds to lose.
I can do it, I know I can, and I will. I also need to up my protein, I have not been getting enough and I know that, so back to the protein shakes every day until I can adjust my eating.  I know Susan, baby steps!!!!  I do love you for your encouragement on the phone, to remind me BABY STEPS!!!

My vitamins have been lacking and I realize that I must take care of me in order to be able to take care of everyone else.

So, here are my goals:
No more sugar
Lower carbs
Get 100 mg protein no matter what
Take my vitamins, no excues, I take my other meds why not them???
Exercise an hour a day!!!!

I will be accountable to you guys so Im asking for the kick in the butt if you see I need it, help and suggestions if you see fit to offer them.
Hugs,
Rhonda D.

I'm in too.  I have been overwhelmed with trying to get all these dang kids Christmas and still pay bills..plus working a lot...I have done fine in the weight dept.  First time I've lost in December too.  However in November I gained..so it's evened out.  I'm happy with that...my goal this year is to exercise everyday...and to work on my art.  I let both things go due to family stuff.  I have to put myself first even if it feels strainge.  I had couple of NSV's lately so that helps a lot.  My boss said my pants are sagging and wants to know when I'm going to get new uniforms...I told him not until they fall off.  So I'll sag a bit longer.  I'm ready to get to a meeting as well.  I always feel so upliftied after going.  Plus it's some "me" time.  It's nice to have family but sometimes they will drain you dry....
