Hormones? Testosterone?

I hadn't been on here in a while.  Just to update you on my situation... I started my month of shakes on 1/28 and weighed 579lbs, and I had surgery 2/27.  Just recently I crossed the 400lbs mark.  Yay me!  I've had no troubles since my surgery.  My weight loss has been excellent (IMO)

I do seem to be having anger issues.  Everything seems to have me flying off the handle.  I didn't use to be this way.  Has anyone ever had these issues.  Is it hormones or testosterone?  I don't understand why I'm like this and it's really getting frustrating.

Thoughts??? Ideas???
Thanks,

Will, my man, how great to see you and CONGRATULATIONS on a job so well done!

Rapid weight loss can really mess with your hormones. Women usually get "weepy", and since there aren't many men in our little community, I don't really have an answer for you, but it would make sense that men would experience some hormonal issues as well. Have you posted about this on the Men's Board? I'm sure there are some leaders there who could give you some insite.

At the February meeting we will be having a clinical psychologist speaking to the group. Please try to come.  I'm sure you're not alone in this situation and she might be able to address it for you. In the mean time, a phone call to your PCP's office might be in order. I can e-mail some folks and try to get an answer, but it wouldn't be until next week.

How's your wife doing?  Hope all is well with both of you!  Glad to see you here, hope you stick around.

Keep up the great work!

Susan

Hey Will
Sorry about the anger issues.  I have had some of the same issues.  Just not very tolerant, even though I always have been in the past.  I seem to be over that now and doing much better.  I found that I had the most problems when I was on very low carb levels.  After adding some carbs (though not too many), I found my old personality returning.  It did slow the weight loss a bit so I had to work at it to find the right balance for me to restore my old self but keep the scale moving downward.  Its a tough balancing act as we get furher out, but worth all the effort.
You may want to bounce this off of some others before messing with your diet as we are all different and you may or may not be as carb deprived as I was, but this has made a big difference for me.  I still have a good bit of weight to lose, so I can't afford to stop losing.   But I really needed to find a way to keep and even temper while doing so.   I seem to be there now - still losing weight but not losing my temper so much.  Best of luck.  I'd love to hear how you make out with this.
