If any of you have used Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, can you please tell me what the pre-testing entails? I think Dr Baker called it SPA.  I have to be there at 11 on Monday and was just wondering how long it will last. If anyone has gone through it, what all will they be doing?
Thanks in Advance

The quiz you about what medications you use and ask you which ones you have STOPPED using, etc.  They draw your blood.  (They also may draw a pulse-ox or however you spell that if you are on CPAP.)  They give you your antibiotic wash you have to use to shower before you leave to come to the hospital for your surgery.  They give you your spirometer that you have to use in the hospital to breath in.  That's all I really remember.

The most frustrating thing about the whole "pre-op testing" thing is that they make you will undoubtedly wait 30 minutes before they even call you back.

They do this because BEFORE you do the actual "pre-op testing", you go back to the office beside admissions and they make sure that they have your correct billing/address information, etc and you pay them there if you are cash pay.  All that only takes about 5 - 10 minutes tops.

BUT, the people that schedule pre-op testing allot 30 minutes for that portion.  So if you get done with that in 5 minutes (like me and my mom both did), you go back into the front waiting area by admissions and wait the remaining 25 minutes for your appointment time to come up with the nurse in surgical admin.

THAT is a pain.

The only thing other than what Wendy mentioned is they'll do an EKG on you, too, but that really takes only a minute or two, as well.  They have a machine they roll in and they get it done in nothin' flat.  The most miserable part of the whole process was the blood gases; it took the resp techs 3 tries to hit the artery they were looking for.  Hopefully you won't have the same trouble!

I want to say I was done with the entire process (pre-admit/SPA/and WAITING) in ~ 1 1/2 hours.

Thanks so much guys. I'm so excited. More nervous today then I have been. Just making sure everything is in order for my family.  See you all on the losers bench soon.
