Hey Gang,

Well, today was a good day....mostly.  I hung out and drank lattes this a.m., then threw in a load of laundry and started the dishwasher. Got my act together and went and did some shopping for ME!!
Gary and Tess (DIL) both told me I had to think outside the box with some new clothes. I saw a Target ad with a modell wearing a cowel neck tunic sweater, leggings and a pair of mary janes. I thought it was very cute, but worried that I'm a little old for that style. Gary and Tess both said I should go for it and I did.
I've got to tell you, I think I look pretty dang cute for an old gal!  Tess MADE me buy some calf high boots, but I think they made me look like Robin Hood. So, I'll stick with the flats and the boots can go back to where they came from.

Tonight we're whooping it up. Wish you guys could all come. We're going to Grandpa's Catfish House for the Amature Ham Radio Operator's Christmas party. Man, do I know how to live or what??? No, they don't get to see the new cuteness....cords, turtleneck tee and a red sweater vest.

Here's my day, so far. I'll edit it later. Haven't even broken 750 cals yet. Worrying about what the menu will be at Grandpa's.

latte

Bkfst sandwich:  1 slice DF bread, 1 slice bacon, 1/8 c eggbeaters

latte

2/3 Chic-fil-A grilled chicken sand w/o sauce

yogurt, banana, 11 almonds

New outfits rock!  I'm glad you found a new look to play with. :-)  I'm always scared to try new things.  Good news, though, I managed to squeeze my butt into a pair of size 14 work pants today and wore them all day without incident!  Woohoo!

Catfish, huh?  I've been eating so much fish lately, I may just swim away... Some coworkers and I went to Copeland's today (new New Orleans-style restaurant in Shackleford Crossing).  Talk about a challenging menu!  I thought about fish and second-guessed since I've been eating so much.  I *almost* talked myself into a nice petite filet, but then I came to my senses and settled on the blackened catfish.  It was very good.  The table ordered a cheesecake dessert in honor of one's birthday, and I had a teeny tiny little bite -- oh, it was sinful!  Fortunately I had no ill-effects, but I'm sure not going to push my luck.

Anyway, here's how the day stacked up:

Breakfast--forgot to eat again; this is a bad habit!

Lunch -- catfish, a few steamed veggies, one bite of biscuit, and one bite of cheesecake

Dinner -- chicken & spinach lean cuisine

Snack - 1 1/2 slices of toast, 1 piece sf candy

Not a great day, but could be worse.  I bought some more Christmas cards tonight!!!!! Yay!

Hey Wendy,

Yeah, you gotta do something about that breakfast habit. Do you run out of time in the morning, or do you just not feel like eating?  I eat on the run sometimes and will often take my breakfast with me and eat in the car. ALMOST as bad as not eating at all, but not quite  lol

Dinner was a disaster. The meal was family style, so at least I could control what went onto my plate, but of course it was all fried and then deep fried for good measure. Oh yeah....cold too. They were supposed to serve at 6:30, but some of the group were tied up in traffic so they held it up for 15 minutes. Not what you should do to fries and fish. They did have chicken strips as well, but.....heavily coated and FRIED.  AGH

If ever you're going to eat steat, fillet mignon is your best choice because it's so lean.  Wal-mart sells a two pack for about $6 that I get pretty often. They're wrapped in bacon, but I just take that off before cooking.

Ok, I'm off.....see ya soon

Today at work started out somewhat frustrating, but ended up well.  I was productive and got offered another special project within my special project.  I guess I'm pleased that I'm thought highly of... but I really don't need anything else to think about.  Oh well.  It's just until the end of December.

My aunt had a "niece night" tonight.  It was the first one she has ever had.  She invited all her nieces to come to her house for a little "party".  We watched "Surviving Christmas" (which was an okay movie) and played BS (a funny score/card game).  I honestly did not want to go at all.  I am so anti-social it's not even funny.  To be honest, the only reason I went is because I would have felt guilty for NOT going since all the other nieces were going and she practically begged.  It's not her either.  I love my aunt.  She's my favorite aunt actually.  I just hate family gatherings of any kind.  I don't know why.  I don't like MOST social situations.  That's weird I guess.

But sitting here typing this, I have finally figured out what it is that makes me dislike most social situations.  I don't mind social situations where I can leave at any moment.  I don't feel trapped.  But if it is any sort of family gathering, I feel like I HAVE to stay a certain amount of time before it's acceptable for me to leave.  It's the same way with going out with friends.  I hardly EVER do.  If I do, I end up feeling trapped into staying a certain amount of time with them before it is acceptable for me to leave without being rude.  This, combined with my horrible habit of either saying too much or too little in most social situations, makes me nervous and akward when I'm with others.

That still sounds terrible, but at least I am understanding my own feelings about this a little bit more.  (Y'all really wanted to hear me talk myself through all that didn't ya?  Y'all are SOOO enthralled with my self-therapy, I can tell! LOL)

Glad to be of service!!  Sometimes the process of writing things like this down is all you need to work through it. Sad to say, the way the board has been lately not many people probably read it. But, you got it figured out!

Sounds like you're valued at work, and in these times that's a VERY good thing!

Hope you have a great weekend.
