Super Saturday!!!

I had a good day today.  My son is on a trip this weekend and my hubby was at work.  So my daughter and I went to stimulate the economy all day.

We shopped for her some long sleeve shirts at the mall (she had hardly NO long sleeve shirts according to her).  I didn't get me much of anything today because I got me a new coat from Dillards yesterday.  (I actually got the exact same coat I bought last year in a XL misses size because I was convinced that my boobs couldn't POSSIBLY get any smaller than they were in high school.  I have now given that XL misses coat to my mom and I bought a size M in the exact same coat yesterday.)

I went by Kroger and got a bunch of groceries too.  My daugther convinced me that she needed a new dress for the dance and band concert, so I got her that.  (It is beautiful.)  At least everything was on sale.  I got out of Kroger with a HUGE basket full of groceries for just $150.  I am one of only 5% of americans who use coupons on a regular basis.  (According to a recent study, only 5% of americans use coupons.  I use them religiously.)  Since I bought over $100 in groceries, I got 20 cents per gallon off my gas too.  So I filled up my super-crew truck's gas tank for about $40 from the low fuel light being on.

To top off the day of deals, I went by Abilities Unlimited (where they were having 1/2 off clothes) and got a small paper sack of clothes.  I always feel good getting designer clothes for 62 cents a piece.  I got a few skirts because I've been wanting a few skirts and I had had NONE previously.

When my son gets home tomorrow, we're going to go see Twilight. I promised him I would wait for him.... but it was hard.  I am a total FANATIC for the novels.

So here was my intake for yesterday (Friday)...

My hubby and I stimulated the economy yesterday, too.  We finished Christmas shopping for our little kids, now to figure out what to get Megan!  I also picked up a few tops from Target.  I was so happy to get a L vs fitting into nothing there.  AND -- I managed to cram my butt into the size 14 jeans I bought from Avenue (when they were $10 before surgery)!!!!  They were really a bit too tight to wear in public, but it felt awesome to be able to pull them up further than my knees and be able to button them, too!

I'm digging the nectar I picked up yesterday.  It's not making me sick, either; maybe that was just a newly-preop thing.  I'm glad to be over it, regardless.

We saw the friend I thought had dumped me tonight.  Hubby called her after seeing how sad I was about it, she thought we were as busy as she was... *shrug*.  It was fun, and she was shocked at how much smaller I am than the last time she saw us 4 months ago.  :D

I've had a few pants that were too tight to be decent in public.  Don't worry... that never lasts long.  They'll be falling off you in no time!

My hubby and I went to Lowes and picked up some Kilz primer for me to repaint the living room and hall.  Picked out a pretty paint color called smoky slate for the walls.  Went to see his mom at the nursing home.  Still working on getting the door leveled that we put in last weekend.  It is sticking at the top a little.  It is driving me nuts.  I am giving up and having someone with experience with this sort of thing to come in and get it level before I can replace the sheetrock around the door to paint.  Didn't eat much of anything yesterday.  My pouch has been a little out of sorts for a few days.

Breakfast:  3 bites of sausage and gravy.

Lunch:  none

Supper:  6 boiled shrimp

Snack:  6 melba rounds with fat free cream cheese.

oh, I'm taking my vitamins, b-12 and calcium every day.  I have been taking 1260 mg of calcium citrate plus d.  My fingernails are getting brittle though.  Any suggestions?  Should I up my calcium and add another pill or two?  Maybe take 630mg 3 x day?

Good calcium absorption caps at around 500.  So if you are taking it in doses of 630, you're really only getting the first 500 of so of the dose.  The rest of the dose is wasted.

I take Citracal Plus (2 pills = 500 mg).  I take that 4 times a day for a total of 2000 mg per day.

I'd recommend changing to a form of calcium where your doses are 500 as opposed to 630 (so you're not wasting any).  I'd also take doses of 500 mg 3 to 4 times per day.

(All of this is per the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeon's article "Bariatric Nutrition: Suggestions for the Surgical Weight Loss Patient".)

1000 mg per day is NOT enough, so 2 doses of 500 mg is not enough.  (Even if you were getting the whole 1260 mg, that is not enough.  Bone resporation in NON-operative women was not prevented at supplementation of 1700 mg per day.  So if 1700 mg per day of calcium is not enough for NON-operative women to keep from using their own bones for calcium... it's certainly not enough for us.)

What other vitamins do you take?

Thanks for the info.  I went online and ordered some of those calcium citrate lozenges from Bariatric Advantage.  I'll give them a try, and increase the dose too.

Sounds like a great day to me!  Money has been tight with business at the salon slowing, so no shopping for me. Gary's busy selling stuff on ebay to get xmas $$ together. Labels came in yesterday, so today we're getting it together, finally!  I'm going to the Revenue office tomorrow to get our business license. Gary will take photos today after labeling so we can get things posted on etsy.com and get this show on the road.  Long time coming, pray that it doesn't come back to bite me in the buttocks!

Yesterday's totals are ok, just too low. Maybe I should practice what I preach about keeping your calories up so your metabolism works properly???

Well, I'll throw our yesterday in, although it was NOT as nice as ya'll's.
Our yesterday started out rotten at 11 Friday night when after getting my tummy lined out, I crashed, my sweet DH woke up wretching violently, extremely dizzy and many hour of dry heaves that ended with  visit to the ER yesterday around 2, got out around 7, after giving him a liter of fluids, something for the nausea, and 2 meds to get his blood pressure down.  His blood pressure when we got there was 177/117, and got higher from there, so he ended up w/2 meds in the iv to bring it down.  We are having to keep a close eye on it, and he goes to the doc on  Monday to see what we can do to get it under constant control.

Today has been better, he is eating chicken soup and so far, no nausea today, but he is taking over the counter meclezine for motion sickness every 6 hours.  Life will return to normal for us one day, and we will look backa and say, "sick, yeah, we get that way sometimes."

I knew we had been sick a while when the guys from the barn came to our house today to see if we were still alive.  Today is the 3rd Sunday in over a year that Mike has not cooked at the barn, so they are missing him in many ways, but was sweet for them to come here and see if we were still alive.

Hope to be back on top soon,
Happy weekend,
Rhonda, the perpetually ill one
