Dealing with changing body image
Hey Sybul,
Just wanted to chime in and say you're doing great! I am dealing with the hair loss at a pretty bad rate now too. It's no fun. Someone at support group actually asked me if I was losing a lot of hair :(. She wasn't being rude at all but it it did make me more self conscious about it. I got mine cut off short too so there's no way to hide it!
I find myself focusing on the negative too sometimes. I am starting to have NO boobs, just skin and other skin issues that are bugging me and I constantly think about how much I have left and how slow the loss is going now. My DH told me that when he compliments me I always kind of snort and laugh. He says it's rude - like insulting the person who pays you a compliment. That's so true and I never thought of it that way. The problem is it's usually cause he's trying to get a little somethin' going with me at the time so it's hard to take him seriously:)
So I am working on contentment this month. What better time than Thanksgiving?
Take care,
Tammy

So maybe you're losing a little hair, you're still beautiful (and don't you snort/laugh little missy!) No one notices these things unless they have been there. Boobs? I have an area formerly known as boobs, but they ARE NOT boobs my friends.

What the heck?!?! You got something in the end of them? I am totally getting the shaft! Kidding...mine are just pathetic. Kind of like pancakes.
Here is my one bit of advice: Do not look up in the mirror when you are bent over washing your face and/or brushing your teeth. It's a humbling experience I tell you. I think that may have been the most disgusted I have been with myself since having surgery. My belly skin was hanging and my pancakes looked like...pancakes...lol. It was kind of like an old dog that's had a few too many litters....
