It's Friday, Do  you know where your week went?

Hope you all weathered the cold yesterday and are ready for a great weekend.   Looks like a crisp October weather event this weekend.  It's my favorite time of year to be outside enjoying creation, so I am going to make every effort to do some of that.

Good news at work - the deal to sell won't close in November after all.  Looks like the new target date in December 15.   Every day delayed is another day of employment for many of us, so this is good news.

Getting everything finalized for this weekend's pen show.  Dian is planning her snack menu and I am finishing up with the pen making, displays, and all that stuff.   We are just having a little open house / browse and visit thing at our house on Sunday afternoon to provide an early Christmas shopping opportunity for friends and past customers.  Gonna have some coffee and hot cider, as well as some cheese and fruit to snack on - and oh yea she gonna bake some of those evil cookies that I'll have to smell.   We'll have a good time visiting with folks, whether anybody buys pens or not.   If any of you would like to stop in, just let me know and I'll pm you the address and details.  We would love to see you and show you what I make and how I do it.  Its great therapy for me.  As I've said before, I enjoy making them and talking about them more than selling them.  If I had chosen to be a car salesman, I would be one skinny dude!

I think I am going to make a pot of turkey chili this weekend to enjoy with the cool weather.  I am ready for some different food and you can make chili that is pretty nutritious.

What's going on with you?

Hey Steve,

Sure hope they hold off on the work thing until after the Holidays. What a blow it could be that time of the year....cruel, really.

Sorry I can't make it to the open house. I'd love to come but Gary really wants to get away for most of the day before the kids come over and the house is transformed to a manufacturing plant again   LOL

Yesterday was ok.  Tried to be a little more dilligent about the fat grams and did a decent job of it. Got up to 124# (I know, I know....head adjustment time) and today is 123#.  Probably water....who knows?

Here's my menu from Thursday:

ww tortilla w/ deli roast beef

Roast turkey breast, mashed potatoes, corn

Lots up here!!!! New job, no office, working from home and NOT disciplined enough to do that.  When Im home Im wanting to other things (housework, laundry, etc)  My eating for Thursday was not that great, struggling w/my food, this job really has me goofed up!!!

I hope to have an office sometime this week, starting a whole new organization, being non-profit and asking for free office space doesnt always go so well, ha ha.  Maybe next week will be more productive.  I have all the supplies I need for an office in my car, w/the exception of furniture, so I look like a rolling Office Depot!!!  Got Glue, lol!!!

Breakfast-Pancake (homemade w/protein powder inside)
Lunch-2 fried eggs, one slice of bread
Dinner (was a disaster, lol, I scorched it) Fresh purple hull peas, not scorched
Onions, deer burger and quartered golden irish potatoes (scorched for extra flavor!!!!)
Lots of Crystal Lite, coffee and a cup of S/F hot chocolate made w/soy milk and a scoop of protein powder!!

Snack-1 cup of popcorn sprinkled w/garlic powder and cajun seasoning.

Not a good day, but Im working on it, I just dont seem to be hungry anymore.
Have a great day, I'll be back to see whats up Saturday this evening!!!

Well, I spent the 1st 1/2 of today driving to LR w/ mom for her follow-up w/ Dr. Baker.  (It was good to see you Steve!!!) Then we spent the last 1/2 of the day in the BMC ER gettting her a contrast CAT scan done.  (She was having BAD gas pains like she needed to pass gas but couldn't.  )

Dr. Baker didn't want to leave anything to chance, so he sent her to the ER to get an oral and IV contrast test done. She also got 2 bags of fluids.  (Even though I had been telling her she HAD to drink at LEAS****er, she didn't listen and had quit eating and drinking pretty much all together over the last 2 days to try to get the gas pains to go away.  To any immediate pre-ops reading this who say they can't get their fluids in... that is what is going to happen to you if you don't get your fluids in.... sitting in BMC ER for 3 or 4 hours with IV bags of fluids running in you.  Drink your fluids, even if you have to FORCE it.  Because believe me... sometimes you DO have to force it.)

The CT scans showed no gas trapped or anything.  She did have some stools higher up in the intestine that weren't passing.  So he told her to do prilosec or prevacid every night, along with miralax daily.  She asked him if she was going to have to do that forever and he said to just try it for a little while.

So anyway, no bowel obstruction or any complication like that.  She just needs a little help passing her stools and gas for a little bit.  (She's had trouble with that before pre-op.)

So I feel better after that.  I was scared to death it was going to be some RNY complication (and some terrible one at that) because I'm just a worrier that way.  I think mom has peace of mind now too.

Glad to hear that your mom is ok.   I was afraid of an obstruction when you told me about the problems she was having.  Sorry you had to sit in the ER for so long though.  Hope the new meds do the trick for her.

Wow Wen!!!
Glad she is ok.  I remember dehydrating but it was like 7 or 8 months post op, and it was HORRIBLE, so I can imagine right after surgery.  That must have been awful..

And the bowel issue must be painful, sending prayers her way, hope she is feeling good enough to come to support group in November.

Hang in there, she will make it, just try not to worry, Ive done enough of that for all of us the last 2 weeks w/the job situation.

I must say, I admire you for your dedication to working from home sometimes.  It is so hard for me to stay focused.  I keep wanting to get up and do stuff here.  Maybe I wont have to worry about that after this week.

Take care, see you in November,
Rhonda D.
