I have a date, but it's bittersweet...

You guys haven't heard from me before, but I've been following along, the information is very helpful.  Thanks!  I have a date for lapband (10/29/08), I've met all the requirements for Dr. Baker and am ready for surgery, I started the two weeks of HMR Tuesday, but before he'll do the surgery I have to have an EGD (camera down my throat) because I have reflux and take Protonix and he wants to make sure that I don't have any problems with my esophagus before we proceed.  I hope I haven't come all this way for nothing (insurance approval and all - I've even paid the doctor and the hospital already) I guess I'm a little down...

It's just because Dr. B is very, very careful; he genuinely wants the best for all of us.  In retrospect, I'm glad he's so careful -- I had basically no problems or pain after my surgery.  Hoping & praying that your EGD shows nothing that would bar surgery... that would be a huge disappointment, to be sure!!  When do you have your scope? ETA I just read your profile and see that you have to wait until NEXT Thurs!!!!  Hang in there!

Thanks for replying.  I have heard he is very carefull.  I too and hoping and prying the EGD goes well!  At least the HMR diet is getting easier

While I'm handing out predictions today, I'm going to give you one too.  I predict that everything will be just fine.  Dr. Baker is very thorough and it is standard practice for him to do the scope with your history of GERD.  Just be reassured that he is checking everything out.  It's tough on the nerves getting through the process but once you're on the other side you'll know how all this was worth it.  Can't wait to see you on the other side.

Be thankful that your surgeon is taking care of all precautions.  You will be VERY glad after yoru successful surgery.  Have a guy on the men's forum that was actually on the gurney, was prep'd and getting ready to be wheeled into surgery.  His surgeon double checked his chart and found out that he hadn't had the cardiology exam yet.  He stopped the surgery.  The guy was so furious, but after a good cardiology report, had the surgery 2 weeks later, and everything went great.  He is really happy his surgeon cared enough to make sure he crossed every "T" and dotted every "I".  I know you wouldn't want it any other way.  I got nervous before all my tests too.  Good luck, Michael.

Thank you Michael...yes I do want him to be very careful.  I've been looking into this for years, I just want the 29th to be THE day!    Thanks for your words of support!
