Well, it looks like everything is still on track for the deal to close.  By contact, December 12 is the earliest date that closing can take place.  I expect to see Department of Justice approval in the next couple of weeks - looks like they have worked out all of the competitive concerns.  After that, the FCC will have to approve and it appears that they are ready to issue their approval fairly soon as well.   Some of the press reports make it sound like the economy could interfere with the completion of the transaction, but I think Verizon will close on the deal anyway.
Nothing is ever certain, but it looks to me like closing around the end of the year -maybe into first quarter.  Then we'll see how long it takes them to send all of us old Alltel corporate folks home.  I'm  betting that it won't take long.  Merry Christmas, Huh?
How are things going on the job front for you?

Awww...I was thinking it was at 7.  That's what I get for thinking, huh?  I have an appointment at 5 in Benton so I guess I will have to try to go to next month's meeting.  Are many people close to the Benton/Bryant Starbucks?  I would love to meet there sometime if anyone is ever interested!  I have to warn you that I am kind of nutty though...  :-)

Hi Jeannie,

I live in Alexander and if I'm ever anywhere close to a Buck's my car automatically goes in!  So sorry you can't come tonight, but yes, I'd love to meet up for coffee sometime.

We're just going to have to get a regular thing going here!
