I haven't had surgery yet, but with my kids I would try everything out there and nothing really does anything for them except for tylenol or motrin for temps and body aches and plain ole benedryl.  Nasal saline spray is also good at getting stuff cleared out.  Momma always used vicks.  None of the decongestant stuff OTC seems to help me much either.  Most of the time I end up going to the doctor if I have it more than a week.

I will be happy with thighs that don't touch!

Sorry you've got the cold/crud/junk.  i am just getting over it myself.   I just took tylenol (not much help) and used Vick's to help me breathe.   Can't use Advil or aspirin anymore.   Hope you get better soon.

I used a cough syrup that was sugar free and dye free, and didn't contain NSAID pain medication in it.  I think that they make a few that are geared towards diabetics.  Also check children's cough syrups that are sugar free as well.  I asked the pharmacist at walgreens and he helped me to find something.  I told him I had weightloss surgery and that I needed something for cough and cold that was sugar free and had no nsaids and he helped me.

Needless to say I ended up going to my Dr anyway since it didn't get better and she put me on tussein-x and told me that the sugar gms per serving (which is 1 teaspoon) was to low to affect me.  And it was NSAID free.

It would be a good idea if we had a thorough list somewhere, as a post, like one that would always stays up top, of OTC (over the counter) meds that we could take, not just OTC pains meds, but ALL OTC meds.

Thank you all so much for your feedback.  I so agree with you about a post or something where we can just go look when we need something like this.  Or any information that would be helpful down the road.  A post we can just go peek at instead of asking the same things over and over LOL.
