I am going tomorrow for my pre surgery testing and I am wondering what that involves. I am having the lapband on Sept-26-08. Thanks for the info.

I had the RNY, but in my case, it involved a blood draw, an EKG, and an arterial stick in my wrist for blood gases (likely because I use a CPAP).  They gave me a respirometer (or whatever that thing is called, it helps you take deep breaths) and a special soap to wash with the morning of surgery.

If you're having surgery at Baptist, they'll escort you into the pre-op area to take care of all this.  It really doesn't take too long, they have a portable EKG machine they wheel around and they stick those little things on and zip a reading off.  The hardest part for me was the arterial stick because they couldn't find the right spot.  Took them three tries!!! OUCH.  But in the hospital after surgery, they did it a few more times and it went *much* better then.

Good luck!!

Hi! I had my presurgery testing the day before my actual surgery because I live so far away from Little Rock! If I remember correctly, they did a blood test of some kind, they weigh you, take blood pressure, and take a urine sample ( for a pregnancy test I believe so you probably won't have to take this test) LOL! Also, they will give you a copy of a living will form that you can fill out if you wish. They will tell you a little bit about what to expect and they will go over your time to be there the morning of the surgery as well as check in procedures. That's about all I can think of at the moment. Its really not anything big to worry about or stress over though! I am getting so excited for you! This will be one of the best things that you have ever done for yourself! Take care and keep us updated!
