Walk from Obesity
Today was the Walk from Obesity. It was terrific! I know that I had a great time. Got to meet several of people in person and I really enjoyed that! It was so nice to be around a nice bunch of people who understand where we come from..and where we are trying to go. So nice to be in a place too, where you do not feel any judgement whatsoever. Plus it was a such a nice morning..not hot at all and no rain. I surely appreciate all the hard work Susan did and hope to see more of you next year. It's well worth it.... (in the meantime hope to see you at the support meetings)

Kelley,
I second everything you just said. It was great. I so much enjoyed meeting the people that I've only talked to on the message board. Everyone was so nice and friendly. Susan and the rest of the volunteers did a great job. There was a lot more people there than I thought would be. Maybe it will be bigger next year. It was fun.

Attending meant more to me than anyone can ever imagine.
I have no support group here and I do not know anyone who is in the same boat as me. The doctors in Memphis wont see me so there for I do not attend support groups, I have managed on my own since I was 3 weeks post op. I do not know anyone one who had RNY here in Marion. There are a few lap band pateints here but they keep to themselves.
It was great to with with my own kind. I truly enjoyed meeting everyone and owe a ton of thanks to Susan for letting me stay at her house so I could walk since it is a 2 hour drive for me. I felt like I belonged and must admit I cried when I left because I have to go back to my world where I dont fit in and no one understands me or my life now. I feel like such a fish out of water but not Saturday.
Alot of hard work goes into the walks and everyone deserves a pat on the back for a job well done. Maybe next year more can attend........hope to see you there.

I am not doing so good in this part of my journey...9 yrs later. :-(
I had a great time! The freebies were cool! I loved the pedometers, water bottles and everything else. It sucked that they ran out of Walk from Obesity shirts though, and all they had left was smalls (I had to laugh at that) I said well give me a small, it will fit me eventually.
But I did get a Baptist shirt to wear. I saw Dr Baker there and even got my picture with him. Even on his days away from surgery and his office he still wears the green surgery pants, LOL. I wonder if his closet is nothing but green surgery pants all hanging up nice and ironed? LOL
I got to see so many people there. My sister was the first person to win a prize when they did the raffle, that was cool! Unfortunately we had to leave midway when they were calling out the dollar raffle tickets because my niece was just being way to fussy.
