I no alot of people on here probaly went through the same thing I am going through. I have been on a 2 week diet for 6 days now so they can shrink my liver for surgery on 9-26-08. I have having thoughts in my head about giving up my favorite foods and wondering what in the he** am I doing. Trust me I have been researching this and dreaming about it for 2 years now and I no this is what I need to do. I have been faithful to the diet so there wont be any setbacks. I am just wondering how do I get through these dang feeling they just wont go away. I feel like I could chew my arm off at any time I am so hungry. Its kind of funny though I am eating like a normal person and I am this hungry. I guess I am just getting worried about failing at this to since I have failed at everything else. I would love for this to help me so I can enjoy my 2 little boys as long as god lets me. So if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help. Everyone on here has been a big help already.
Thanks Bigjack

Hi! I know exactly what you mean! Just keep telling yourself......"I can do this" and you will make it over this hurdle just fine!

As far as being hungry, I can relate. I was so thankful that I did not have to do the shakes but at the same time it was hard to stay under the calorie limit. My limit was 800 calories a day. I'm sure yours is somewhere around that mark too. The funny thing is, that now I struggle some days to eat 800 calories especially when I have a really tight fill.

Some food suggestions: (this is what worked for me.......

Lean cuisine paninis (they have bread and are usually filling and they taste great even though they are diet food)

popcorn (empty calories but I like crunchy stuff so that helped me when I wanted to snack and the volume of popcorn seems to take up space so it makes you feel full longer)

Fat free pringles (if you are a junk food kind of person)

Light bread (40 calories per slice) and lean ham makes a really filling sandwich.

fat free hot dogs (actually not bad for being fat free)

baked or grilled meats at night and also a salad (easy on the dressing though)

vegetables and ranch dip (made using fat free sour cream and ranch dressing mix)--very low in calories and you can snack  on it without taking away a lot of calories from your daily allowed amount

There are lots of other things that you can try. What seemed to fill me up the best was an egg and toast for breakfast, ham sandwich or panini with pringles for lunch, and then meat and vegetables for dinner!

Hope this helps you out some. Remember you can do this and if you need anything at all, just let me know!

Bigjack,
I know exactly what you are going through. I had the same feelings. Everyday, I ask myself what the heck was I doing. But I knew I needed to do this for my own good. I was accumalating more health problems and I needed to put a stop to them. Everyone is different that goes through this. But I know you will do just fine. Karen had very good advice. Try some of the things she suggested. I know other people on here will also give good advice.
You hang in there. IT WILL BE OK!!!

Hey Jack, Im from just up the road from you in Dardanelle, and I think I know who you are.  Anyway, hang tough!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Its only a few more days, you can get there.
I had 4 weeks of the shakes ONLY.  I admit to cheating a little over that month, but honestly not much.  Try low carb wraps with lean deli turkey, a little shredded lettuce and some fat free honeymustard.  I often found that just one of those mid afternoon kept me pretty full, at least to the point I wasnt trying to knaw my arm off.

This is SO worth the effort.  Oh man, I cannot tell you how worth it.    Imagine by Christmas, you will be the easiest person in the family to buy a gift for, cause you will need an entire new wordrobe!  How long has it been since you were under a 40 inch waiste jeans or could wear an XL shirt?  Man I can tell you in 4 months I hav gone from a 56 waiste and 5XL shirts to a 38 waiste and XL shirts.  No more, CPAP, no more insulin 4 or 5 times a day,  I can play with my kids and acutally wear THEM out now, THEN go mow the yard.  I am looking foreward to being able to sit in a tree stand for the first time in more than 20 years this season.

I say these things not to brag on myself, but to give you some idea of how much the small effort is going to pay off.

I can also tell you I have honestly only been hungry a couple times in four months.  I sometimes have to set myself reminders to eat.  HOLY CRAP who would have ever thought that.

Feel free to shoot me a private message if you want to, I'd be glad to meet you somewhere for a glass of tea and a little support.
