I have fibromyalgia and sicca syndrome and am in pain on a daily basis.  Need to see if anyone local suffers from it and goes to a pain clinic.  If you do, please write!  Thanks!

Hi Jeannie,

I too suffer from severe Fibromyalgia.  My rheumatologist also suspects from my blood work that I may have the first stages of Lupus and Sjogren's (sicca) - my mother suffered from both and they played a roll in her death.

A pain clinic remains an option for me, but for now between my rheumatologist and my pcp I have managed to function without daily narcotics, though they're occasional use is a necessity.

Our you under the care of a rheumatologist or immunologist?  And our you already going to a pain clinic or our you seeking one out?

Hot Springs has a great pain clinic with a very good reputation.  I know LR has a couple as well but I have no first hand knowledge of those.

I hope you find some relief,

Alice

Hi Alice,
Do you know the name of the pain clinic in Hot Springs??  I think I need to go ahead and get an appointment.  I stayed home from work today because my meds aren't doing anything to help with pain.  Thanks!
Jeannie

Alice,
I am so sorry!  I do have that message.  I swear I am probably the foggiest fibro patient around....Do you think they are both equally good?
Thanks again!
Jeannie

My mom is almost 20 years post op, and has had fibro for about 5 years now.  She went to a pain clinic in Conway about a year ago.  All they managed to do was wean her off all the hydrocodone she was on, but that in itself was a great result.  Having to watch mom go through the daily pain is so very hard, I wouldnt wi**** on anyone.  Best of luck and we will add you to our prayer list.

HI.  I have fibro, as well as hypothyroidism, allergies, restless leg syndrome and obesity.
I see a rheum. at LR diagnostics that diagnosed me about 3 weeks ago, but I have had the pain for about 5 years.  It just took that long to get someone to finally listen to me.  At first I thought it was rheum. arth., b/c my grandma has that.  But after some tests, i don't have any inflammation in my bloodwork.

I am on mirapex for my legs as well as walking, stretching and swimming (swimming helps the best!).  The best thing has been zoloft for the pain.  It has done wonders for the pain, but it does have a few sides effects.  So right now I am going off of it and will try wellbutrin to see if it has the same benefits but not the 2 side effects.  I have a phys. therapist friends that gives me free 30-45 minute massages once a week to my shoulder, neck and back area!  OH-getting of art. sweeteners helped me some as well as not eating sugar and carbs (esp. white).

Dr. Trigg said that WLSurgery would help me b/c my fibro seems to stem from RLS.  Less weight on the legs, less RLS.  But, insurance will not pay for WLS, so I am off to Mexico in December!

I see a rheum. at LR Diagnostic Clinic too.  I take zoloft but it doesn't do anything for my pain.  What side effects do  you have from it?
The massages do help me but I haven't had one in a long time.  So far my pain hasn't improved but I have a lot more weight to lose so hopefully it will!!  Good luck with your surgery!

The side effects are weight gain and low drive in relationship with hubby.  He is all for changing up my meds to see if it helps that.

I also do a lot of supplements. Melatonian, magnesium, fish oil, b complex, hair nail skin vit. l-lysine.  Lavendar seems to help calm me.  I found a good smelling laundry soap called xtra that smells wonderful.  I also started cleaning with the laven. all natural products from target.

Have you tried to bathe and such with more natural products?  That helps me when I am hurting more, I don't eat as much processed foods and go back to more natural stuff like shampoo and lip balm.  Burt Bee has makeup.  I like dr. Bonners soaps too.

You look great from the pictures i c!  I can't find a pic small enough for my posts, but I have some in profile albums.

Thanks!  I am looking forward to surgery...it can't get here fast enough.
