Hello I am getting ready to have my surgery and I got my pre-surgery instructions and on there it says I have to pay all the up front costs before surgery. Can anyone tell me how much that is going to be or have any idea. Thanks.. Also did you have to have a cath while in surgery. They havent said nothing about it but on the last video they sent me to watch they were talking about it. Also I dont want to get to personal but am I going to have any clothes on the bottom half during surgery I think I am worried more about that than the hole surgery. Thanks for the help everyone on here has been great.

O.K., you won't have anything on during surgery but you will be covered.  They put you in a hospital gown and take you into surgery.  They wait until you are out before they take it off to prep you and while they do that, they do cover your privates so you don't have to worry about that.  If you get a foley catheter, they also put that in while you are out.  As far as insurance I guess you can figure 20% of the estimated cost of the surgery as your up front cost if your insurance pays 80%.

Hey Mike! I am so glad that you are getting your surgery! You will be so happy when its over! You know I used Dr. Wellborn too so lets see what I can remember.......

1st- I think my total cost of surgery was $16,000. I did not have insurance that would pay for any part of my surgery so all of the costs were on me. The cost has to be paid in full before the surgery!

2nd- I don't think you have to have a cath for surgery! At least they did not put one in before they took me to the opearting room! Now what they did after I was asleep, I have no idea! LOL!

3rd- YES unfortunatly you are naked during the procedure. When they wheel you to the operating room they have a gown draped over you and a sheet so everything is covered. When they get you into the operating room they will ask you to scoot from the gurney onto the operating table. Then they drape soemthing over you and take off the gown. So you are naked but still covered. Again, after they put you to sleep who knows what they do but you will be knocked out so you won't care one bit! LOL!

Ok! I think I have answered you as best I can remember! Take care and don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions!

Good luck with your surgery!  I am not sure about how things have to be paid.  My insurance covered all but my copays for the Dr. and Hospital. You will do fine in the surgery...seemed like I just fell asleep and then someone was waking me up.  I had to have a hiatal hernia repair at the same time.  That was a surprise to me and my Dr.  But no problems at all so far.  Let us know how you are doing.  Make sure you take a pillow to the hospital for the ride home...and as they say..sip sip sip, walk, walk, walk.

you will have a catheter during the surgery, but it is after you are asleep, and they took it out before you wake up.  the only way you know it's there is that we told you!

and the preop liquid diet is WAY harder than the liquid diet afterwards.  afterwards it's a piece of cake!  (or a protein shake!)

best wishes!  casey
