OMG, I quit my job, I'm insane
I can't believe I actually quit today. Went in to work, within 5 minutes I was handed 2-3 days worth of work by the DNS and ADNS who have decided to delegate all of their work even though they are still there, half the people in the meeting were teary-eyed, the other half mad, decided I had had enough and handed in my keys, work, and badge, said thank you and good bye and left. I renewed my credentials with a local temp agency on my way home and am working on updating my resume now. In a way I'm relieved. The stress level around that place has been through the roof for the past three weeks. It's scarey thinking about starting out all over again somewhere new though. What have I done? I didn't even give my 30 day notice. Do you think a temporary insanity plea will work with my husband? lol... Well, I guess I better get busy on my resume.
Sounds liberating! I think it sounds marvelous and I hope to have that feeling someday. Too bad I currently like my job and am in no situation to walk out...lol. I don't think that it will be held against you with further employees due to cir****tances. I know people who have flat out lied on applications/resumes/etc, but no damage was done, they fit the job, the employer likely took mental note and life went on!

Company buy-outs suck. That's when we all find out just how little value management really places on their employees. Its never good to have to work where you don't want to be.
I'll be doing the whole resume and job hunting thing around the first of the year when our buy-out is completed. Haven't had to job hunt in 30 years.
Good luck on your job search. Hope you find something much better than you had real soon.

OMG I JUST LOVE YOU!
How many of us have had a fantasy about doing EXACTLY what you just did? I'd say probably ALL of us (or at least most).
I love my job. But I definately have had moments (especially in the past under a previous supervisor who wasn't up to my standards) where I hated it.
If things were that bad, GOOD FOR YOU for doing what you did.
(Next time, for unemployment purposes, it would be better to jump up on the conference room table and start giving everyone the finger or something. Then maybe you would have been FIRED as opposed to quitting. Fired = unemployment. Unemployment = financial cushion while you hunt for another job. Just sayin....)
