Hey Guys!

I DID IT, I DID IT, I DID IT  I walkded over the Big Dam Bridge.  Gary surprised me this morning, said he wanted to take me somewhere I'd been wanting to go and hadn't be able to do it. For those who don't know me, this time last year I was still recovering from 4 surgeries to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon. Was told by the Ortho doc that I'd never be able to walk normally ever again, and would always have to wear a brace (up to my knee).

Well, I'm here to tell you not only did I walk over the damn Big Dam Bridge, I barely broke a sweat and never got winded.  I'm so grateful to Gary for knowing that I was ready and just taking me. I didn't have a chance to doubt myself or my abilites.   Guess I'm ready to take on the world now!

Okay, here's my food from yesterday.

latte

mini whole grain bagel w/ FF cream cheese and 2 thin slices of turkey ham

banana

Smart Ones Quesidilla

mini bag of smart pop popcorn

1/2 hamburger with lettuce, tomato, mayo and mustard.  1/4 cup green beans

watermelon

Hope you all have a great day!

Well, yesterday I found (at a local pawn shop - that was an experience let me tell ya') my daughter a yamaha clarinet.  I paid $150 plus tax for it and it is going to cost another $150 to get it repadded and cleaned.  But it is a yamaha wood clarinet, so it is worth $300 since they're over $1000 new.

I also went roller skating with  my daughter at her friend's b-day party.  I haven't done that since high school.  What an experience.  (I didn't even fall once, although it did take me a lap or two to get used to it again.)

Abilities Unlimited was having all their clothes on 1/2 off (which amounts to 62 cents each if an item is not "specially" priced at $2 in which case it's $1).  So I spent an hour or so going through everything they had and got a basket load.  Some of it I'll just resell through consignment shops to make me a little money, but I got some stuff for me too.  In fact, I think I got what WILL become my favorite pair of jeans there.  I'm thinking about going to Goodwill today.  The size 4 pants I've had hanging my closet for this winter are going to hang off me like a tent (at least the ones I have in there will, I can totally still do 4s I just need a different fit type or something).  So I should really get ready and go by Goodwill since they'll be closed tomorrow.

Wow!  I've been meaning to go and walk across the Big Dam Bridge.   Sounds like a great way to spend a morning.

I'm still playing nurse, but not as much nursing needed as at first.

We stayed home this morning so I took advantage of the down time to make a few pens - that's one of my hobbies - making pens from various exotic woods or acrylics.  I make fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoints.   Yesterday I made a pen and pen stand out of cocobolo wood- turned out real nice.  Today I made some bright colored acrylic pens.  Its always fun to see what the end result looks like since you can't really tell from the raw blanks what the grain or pattern will be.

Did pretty well with my food targets yesterday, but not much appetite today.  I guess I'll have to get it in gear and figure out what to eat for the rest of the day to get up to target on the protein.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hey, we should get a group together for a big walk over the Big Bridge!!!  It would be fun, especially since you'll be away for the Walk From Obesity.

There is a fella on the Over 50 Forum who makes pens. What a coincidence?  My DH has made some things out of cocobolo, it's very pretty.

Glad your patient is doing better.

WOOOHOOO on the Big Dam Bridge!!!    I bet that was such a rush to be able to make that walk.

I'm trying to remember what I ate Saturday:

1 oz chicken
3 tbsp beef & veg soup
1 oz chicken
6 brown rice crackers
4 popsicles

...and I think that's it.  My stomach was still upset, arrgh.
