Why support is so important to WLS
Well, now that I have your attention! Thanks to everyone who checked in on the Roll Call. It was nice seeing some old Friends and great to meet new ones. I'd love to see all of you more often.
That brings me to the topic of this post. Studies have shown that WLS people who attend 5 or more support group sessions a year have a 77% greater chance of making their goals and maintaining their weight!!!!! Don't you think that is an amazing thing? What do you think you could do by spending just 5 minutes of your day checking in here for support?
We have a load of people who don't attend support group meetings at all. First of all, there are only two that I know of in the whole State (which is just sad if you ask me) and not all of the WLS patients are required to attend any at all. We have an opportunity to lend support to all of our brothers and sisters in this journey, so why don't we?
I'm going to try something new. Instead of the "what are you eating" thread, we're going to try a different approach. Every day I will post (or if I don't someone else is free to) a "What are you eating and what's eating you" thread. Tell us how you did the day before, what challenges you might have had, what accomplishments you can celebrate, and if you want, what you ate. You don't even have to tell us the calories/carb/fat/ protein stuff if you don't track it. Not everyone does, so why put pressure on ourselves?
Everyone needs to realize that all of us have a wealth of information to give to each other. What works for us might help another. I'll be happy to help with food choices/decisions if it's wanted, but I won't butt in.....unless of course I see a big red flag! Then you might get a talking to LOL LOL
Ok.....here we go! Let's have fun with this and support each other. Remember, buy supporting one another, you're benefit ting too!
