Hey everyone hope yall are all doing good today!!

I went back to Dr Baker last friday for my 1st check up sense surg.  Woot Woot he took the drain tube out LOL.  Anywho, he put me on Calcium Citrate +D.  My question is .... is the D vitamin D?
This is what the Phrmacy gave me was Calcium Citrate +Vitamin D.  Ok next question .... on the slip of paper they gave me at the Doctors office says I need to take a total of 1200 mg / daily.  Well on the bottle they show to only be (if I am reading it right) 2 tablets 630 mgs..... so do I need to take 4 a day to get all I need in?

Thanks so much for any help with this.  I still get so confused with all vitamin and things.

Hey Jan,
I know it is confusing for me too!!!  I take Citracal Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D. I take four a day. I don't take them all at one time though. I spread them out through the day. Just remember that you can't take the Citracal within two hours of taking your multivitamin because they will cancel each other out. Hope I helped at least a little bit. Good luck.

You got it! Vit D helps with Calcium absorption and I also take 4 a day. Some may recommend more than 4, but right now I'm still trying to get vitamins drilled into my head 7 days a week. My problem is Sundays. I'm such a slacker on Sunday!

Calcium is best absorbed in doses of 500 - 600 split as evenly throughout the day as possible.

I take Citracal Plus (which has vitamin D in it along with other minerals).  I take 2 tablets 4 times per day for a total of 2000 mg per day.  I do this to comply with the most recent recommendations published by the ASMBS regarding calcium supplementation.  (See below.)

Additional elemental calcium (1500 - 2000 mg/d)
- choose a brand that contains calcium citrate and vitamin D3
- split into 500 - 600 mg doses
- use a brand that contains magnesium
- wait >= 2 hr after taking multivitamin or iron supplement
- combined dietary and supplemental calcium intake > 1700 mg/d might be required to prevent bone loss during rapid weight loss
