Morning.
I need some suggestions for severe gas pains in the rib and back area. It started on Friday. I have tried Magnesium citrate. Pooped but didn't get rid of gas. Have been taking gas x. Not helping. My pcp suggested I stay away from cow's milk and nuts. So I have been drinking soy milk and not eating nuts. Here it is Thursday and still no relief. I am sure it is gas but don't know why it's there and more importantly why it won't leave. Don't know what else to try. Sometimes it gets so bad it feels like someone is stabbing me.
Anyone had this problem and what do you do?

First, are you sure it's gas and not pain from like maybe a gallstone?  I had severe pain in my rib area and across the front of my abdominal area and it didn't go away and didn't go away so I started taking one of the prilosec like medicines and it fixed it.  I called my doc and told him and he said that my pouch may have been a little irritated from EATING NUTS. LOL.  I'd call my surgeon and not depend on the pcp.

That is my opinion too. I had what I thought was horrible gas pains about a month after my surgery. Turned out it was a hernia above my belly button. Call your surgeon and get it checked out.

That is how it started with my gallbladder also, then led to food issues, then the thinking I was having a heart attack and in the ER and then surgery, call Dr. Roller dear.

Thanks for all the adivce. I know it isn't my gallbladder since I Have had that removed. My PCP ordered a CT scan yesterday. ( which I still don't have the results) But I have taken all the adivce. I have called Dr. Rollers office and having the CT Scan report sent to him as well. I really don't feel it is anything bad. I just feel like it is trapped gas. But I know it is painful and it is better to be safe than have something bad happen. Than Dr. Roller would scop my knob.

LOL guess maybe a California saying. Scop ur knob or as Shawna says skin ur hide or kick my butt.
It appears that the CT scan was ok. I thought it would be but still no relief for the gas.
On a happier note my husband bought me my hooker boots. They are crotch high black leather and also bought me a black mini skirt. I am officially his llittle hoochie! I will post pictures in a few days.
