Stressing

So I am just writing this to vent for a second. As most of you know, my husband is in the process of getting approved for RNY. He is tentatively scheduled for 8/13...you got it, 2 weeks from today! This is very exciting and he is (or was) very excited. There are very few people who know about his decision outside of our WLS friends (read: I don't have many people to discuss these issues with). He doesn't want to catch any flack and he really just wants to suprise the people that he doesn't see frequently. Fine by me...many people, including his family, don't know about mine!

ANYWAYS....all of that for this. His process has been a very quick one as he decided to persue this in June! Well he went and got all of his testing done ASAP. His psych eval and upper GI had to be schedueld. As life goes, the psych appointment was like 2 weeks later than everything else. No big deal, right? The whole freakin visit is taking tests on a computer. I would think "print" and sticking it on the fax machine would be the extent of getting the paperwork over. We were planning to submit Monday, Tuesday at the latest. Here we are on Wednesday and they are still waiting on the report from the psych office. I took matters into my own hands (as I tend to do) and called their office myself. The lady that answered the phone said it could take up to 7 days...umm that's today. Then she said that it could take as long as Friday which would be 9 days. THEN they have to submit to insurance. Insurance only took a few days to come back with an approval so we are hoping for that with his, but if they have to wait to submit until Monday, they won't get an answer until maybe even Friday and then he's supposed to have surgery the next Wednesday? wtf?!?!?!

It's going to take 2 days for the money to be available once he's approved(we pay for about 80% of RNY with my insurance) and this is just totally stressing me out. Johnny is already stressed out about it. I could tell by the way he was acting last night and then I finally got him to tell me what was bothering him. I can't let him know how stressed I am because I'm supposed to be telling him that it'll all work out.

You may be asking why the rush and I'll tell you. He goes back to school August 25. He said if he doesn't have surgery by the 13th, he's not screwing with it until he's out of school. December 2009!!!!! Please say a little prayer, swing chickens, rub the belly....whatever you do. Thanks guys!

Sorry your getting such poor "customer service" (is that an oxymoron?) , but it seems to be getting to be the norm these days.   I hope everything works out for the scheduled date.  you stay on top of the Psych and Insurance and I'll lift up a prayer.   I don't have any chickens to swing and getting less of a belly to rub.  Good Luck.

Thanks Steve! I talked to Beth, our coordinator(I think that's the title), and she was going to try to light a fire under someone's slow moving @$$.

If not I have a big ole can of gasoline in my garage and I know how to use it, I truly believe it will all work out.  Thinking of you!

I will also be lifting up a prayer for him.  I have a big belly to rub, but I believe the prayer will do a lot better.  Does he have an OH page for himself?  If he doesn't, he needs to get one, and if he does, tell him to come over to the men's forum too.  The are a great bunch of guys, and like here, give alot of needed encouragement.  One guy fought the system, and doctors for 2 years to finally get his surgery, but he stuck in there.  He had to have plastic surgery before his bypass.  He had a stomach apron that touched the floor when he sat in a chair.  He has a pic of it on his page.  His story is amazing.  I know you don't want him to wait till 2009 though.  I so understand.  I was planning on having my surgery scheduled when I go for my next appt on the same day -- 8/13, but they called and a kink has come up.  Because of results of my stress tests, it might be delayed.  I am also bumed, but hang in there.  Michael.

Yes! He does have a page, but mainly just checks to see if he has any messages or things of that sort. He hasn't really gotten "into" the board just yet! I showed him the men's forum so I think he will eventually be participating over there. Right now he's just hanging out waiting to be "one of us". He also works outside for about 11 hours a day and when he gets home, he doesn't do much! He tries to sleep about 9 hours at night because he's exhausted from the heat so that doesn't leave many more hours in the day!

Shawna, I will also say a prayer for you guys. I know what you mean about staying strong for him. If you both get discouraged and show it, it can be bad. But you stay strong for him. I am sure Dr. Rollers office will do all that is possible to get it done before he starts school again.
You are doing great and I know you can't wait for him to join you on the losers bench. Just think how much easier and cheaper meals will be. You know MY John hasn't had surgery but he has been losing weight since my surgery. We read all labels and buy much healthier food. SO he is benefiting also. It just mkaes it easier when you do it together.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Carla! Yea I know they are trying to get everything squared away and they are very accomodating, but the stinkin psych's office will do as they please. I know mine didn't take anywhere near this long! My big obstacle was getting ahold of Dr.Sandler's office to get records sent. Apparently everyone was confused about the whole situation because I got married somewhere in the mix of things and no one know who "Shawna Terry" was. Sheesh...why don't people read the "maiden name" or "other name" line?
