My doctor is Dr. J. D. Fuller who is in practice with Dr. Mark Gibbs.  I don't see Dr. Fuller's name listed with anyone.  I was to be scheduled with Dr. Gibbs but Carrie/Shannon called and said I could get my lap band done August 4 if I would use Dr. Fuller.  I did some research and questioned some of the medical community and decided I would go on with Dr. Fuller?  I am scheduled for August 4 and my pre-op appointment with him is August 1.  Shannon is to call me back about nutritionist and pre-tests schedules.  Any words of wisdom or comfort from anyone?

Hi there,

I'm a patient of Dr Gibbs and Dr Fuller actually was the one to discharge me from the hospital when I had my rny in '06.  I know that you will be well taken care of by any of the doctors in that practice.

I just got home from a meeting for the Walk From Obesity and got to visit a bit with both Shannon and Carrie. I can't tell you not to worry, it's just what we do whenever we make big decisions like this, but I think you'll do great!

Anything at all we can do on this end, just let us know

Susan

Thanks SO MUCH!!!!  I appreciate how nice everyone on this site is.  If you don't mind, I am going to send a message to you to see if you would allow me to put you on my site as a friend.  The Walk From Obesity - I know exercise is extremely important and that really worries me at this point.  I was riding my bicycle last July and wrecked and injured my left foot and knee.  My knee healed fine but my foot had a chip in the bone on top of my foot that has now developed into arthritis.  I followed the doctor's advice and went to NewBalance and got GOOD tennis shoes but most importantly shoe inserts that are OH SO MUCH BETTER!  I can actually walk all day now - off and on - haven't tried walking any distance yet but in case my feet can't handle it, (should be even better after I get some of this excess weight off me), do you have suggestions for other types of exercise?  Thanks again -

Oh, I know ALLLLLLL about injured feet!!!  Three months after my rny I ruptured my Achilles Tendon and spent the next 8 months going from a boot to a wheelchair/walker, to another boot, and after 5 surgeries and months of physical therapy I can walk!  Doctors told me it wouldn't happen, and it wouldn't have if I had not lost this weight.

Water aerobics are wonderful and are little to no impact. If you have a Y in your area they aren't expensive, either.  I'd start walking now and just do 10 minutes or so at a time and increase it as you're able. It will get easier as you go along.  The Walk From Obesity is only one mile in distance, but you can walk as much or as little as you are comfortable.

Welcome aboard!!  Good luck to you!

The fact that Dr. Gibbs would accept Dr. Fuller into his practice speaks to me about how good Dr. Fuller is.  Dr. Gibbs (or any other great doctor/surgeon for that matter) is not going to let someone who's not any good come into practice with them.  So he must be alright.

Thank you so much!  I guess my anxiety took over my common sense!  Thanks again!

I just had band surgery with Dr. Gibbs June 16th.  I was home the next day.  I had to stay overnite due to my insurance rules. I'm sure Dr. Fuller will be terrific.  Dr. Gibbs has trained many surgeons on lapriscopic surgery and like others have said, I'm sure he wouldn't have Dr. Fuller with him if he weren't a wonderful Doctor too!   I have had absolutely no problems.  You will do fine and recover very fast.  I am about 7 weeks out and back at work full force.  I deliver mail as a city carrier for living.  Ask all the questions you need to..whatever helps you make you feel more at ease.  Kelley

Just a quick note to let you know that I too went with Dr. Fuller.  I had the gastric bypass, but I am very pleased with his work and I healed very well, with my scars barely showing and they are very small!  He is a good surgeon, very kind, and he seems to genuinely care for his patients.

Thank you so much - you are the only one who has responded who has actually had Dr. Fuller do the surgery.  I knew that if Dr. Gibbs had him in his practice he must be good, but it's good to be able to add some "concrete" to the mixture.  I hope you are doing well and continue to do so.  Keep me posted on how you are doing.  God's speed.

I had Dr. Fuller do my gastric bypass on 5-20 and then he operated on me again on 6-24 to fix my hernias. The were not caused by RNY.  I couldn't have been more pleased with him as my surgeon. He is professional but kind and he actually listens to you when you talk to him. He is a wonderful surgeon. You are in good hands- literally!!!!!!!
