Question of the day, Sunday Post.....

When you are down and out, if you could chose one event to attend, to bring your spirits up, where would you go, and why???

Besides church, which I love dearly and its always good for me and my soul, I would choose a horse over any other event I could attend.  Why????  There is nothing like the smell of a horse, and feel of the animal to get me relaxed.  When Im stressed, you can find me at the horse barn, talking to my horses.  They always listen, they dont talk back, and they seem to understand and love me anyway.

Tonight, Sat and into Sunday morning, we attended a Tennessee Walking Horse Show in Farmerville, LA, and Im wondering if I'll ever go to sleep, or if I'll just stay awake till church time, lol.  Im so thankful for the soothing power of the beasts that lifts my spirits like no other activity/event I can attend.

So, what do you do, where do you go to get your inner person back where its supposed to be, so we dont kill the rest of the world, lol.

Hugs,
Rhonda D. the true horselady!!!! (thus my new avatar)

Good question, Rhonda!

Until we went to San Diego the beginning of the month and went out deep sea fishing, I forgot how much being on the water, or even near, it made me feel such great comfort. Not that I've ever been a "beach bum", actually, I can't stand to lay on a beach and get sand where God didn't intend it to be, but to BE on the water somehow makes me feel alive.  Maybe that's the reason I insisted that it would be the first thing we did after getting off the plane.

Just crossing our AR river soothes my soul. Hmmmm. Thanks for the tought provoking question.

Have a happy day, my dear!

Susan

To be honest...when I am having a day, my house gets cleaned top to bottom and I like to spend money. I don't know what my obsession is with cleaning, but I did this as a child, too. As for spending money, it soothes my soul (and then stresses me out the nest day when i tally the damage). It doesn't matter if it's for me or my house. I like to go to antique stores and we have some great ones here so I can usually get my fix in!

1) RESALE and/or THRIFT shopping sprees.

There is no high like finding a pair of silver Gucci sandels for $1.25 or a Jones New York cashmere coat for $25.  I went on a little mini shopping spree at a local thrift shop yesterday and brought home an entire paper sack full of designer clothes for $7.44.  (They were having 1/2 price sale on their coats, ladies pants, and all long sleeve shirts & sweaters - so each piece was $.62 and I got 12 pieces).

2) Getting my HAIR done/cut and/or a PEDICURE.

Yesterday I got a pedicure and felt SOO much better after my feet looked and felt beautiful.  I just got a hair cut a week or so ago, so it was too soon for that.  But I feel better when I have been pampered.  I have a regular stylist that is amazing.  (Candy in the JCPenney mall in HS is WONDERFUL.  I will not let anyone else TOUCH my hair.)  I always feel better when I've seen her.  I don't have a regular pedicure person, but I think the ones in the Central Wal-Mart are the best.  I usually use them if I'm over that way (which I was yesterday).  I always feel better after seeing them because I know my feet are nice and pretty when I leave there.  That probably sounds superficial - but to each his own!

3) Exercise.

This has been the hard one for me lately.  But actually the high from it is the same (and really even better) than the 1st 2.  I always have to MAKE myself do it, but I have NEVER felt sorry I exercised (whereas I have been sorry/guilty for shopping sprees and/or pampering).  I get a rush from that just exercised feeling.  I almost feel like a new, healthier woman RIGHT THEN when I finish.  I usually feel better the WHOLE DAY when I exercise.  There is really no comparison.

Hmmm, I think I would work in my garden.  It can be hard work, especially when it's unkempt like it is now, but I always feel better after being outside -- just not on a HOT day like today!!

I started a square foot garden in the backyard this year, and it's fascinating to me to watch all these enormous plants grow from just a few seeds.  It's almost like raising kids, just with much less maintenance required.  And, of course, you can't eat your kids when you get done...

Gosh, I'm weird.

WOW what a good question!!

Me i love to walk in the woods and listen to nature.  I love to sit by a water stream.  It can either help me clear my mind or help me make an important decission.  Both to me are soooo soothing to the soul.

I am finally getting to where I can walk again a little so my next step is the woods.

My usual favorite is camping on the greers Ferry Lake, but since I was banded 4 days ago it would be anywhere out of this house, I am going stir crazy but am too sore to do much of anything yet. Robyn

Hang in there Robyn,  You will feel better soon..i promise!  I always feel better when I get my hair "naturally" blonde again..thank goodness for highlights.  And a vacation without kids is always very calm and relaxing..that's why my DH and I are taking a short honeymoon in November to a luxury cabin in NWA for a few days.  I can't wait!!  Kelley
