confused
I am 2 days post op and on a full liquid diet. I just reread my literature from the doctor and I am supposed to have a protein shake daily. I am only supposed to have 2 ounces at each meal and then 2-3 oz. of water or juice an hour. How am I going to get a shake down? Just drink it instead of the water? The shakes are about 8 ounces so do I drink it over the course of 2 or 3 hours? I am definitely having a "duh" moment....
I didn't have the lapband, but I have the same literature that is on Dr. Bakers patient hub so maybe I can help on this one. You don't do shakes. Just do 2 ounces for your meals and 1 ounce of water, diluted juice, decaf tea or coffee every fifteen minutes. I had RNY and that was the instructions I was given. Good Luck! I don't think your stomach could handle a protein shake. I think we start worrying about proteins and stuff after our first dr. visit.
I don't know about your doctor, but I was required to have protein shakes from the day I was cleared to drin****il I could eat again. Shakes do count as protein on most plans. Liquid is liquid and will keep you hydrated whether it has protein in it or not. I would double check your doc/nut information because I was supposed to get in as much as I could to reach 60g of protein a day. Although I failed miserably, I tried!!
